Default changed my mind about Hail To The Thief

With the exception of maybe 3 songs I really enjoy it. Its my favorite Radiohead album. Amnesiac is probably my second fave. I got HTTT when it first came out and quickly got tired of it but I love it now.

My favorite songs are Backdrifts, There There, and We Suck Young Blood.

Do most people here like OK Computer and Kid A the best? I know a lot of people feel that HTTT was the beginning of their decline or a misstep.

There are some definite duds on Hail to The Thief, I sometimes wish they would ditch Nigel Godrich.... and this album is the most god-forsaken Nigel Godrich'd album of them all.

you didn't see any radiohead shows in 2003 did you?

i swear, even after my purely joyful experience in Dallas last week....the 2003 show I saw still ranks at the top for me, out of thel 4 times i have seen them so far. and i didn't even like HTTT that much when i first heard it...but after the show....i was in awe of it.

yeah httt is really good. i never liked how 2+2=5 would always get me really pumped up then the next two songs would just bring me down. sit down stand up and sail to the moon aren't bad songs and im sure radiohead intended a cool polar opposite feel, but 2+2=5 is such a fucking rush that being dragged along by those two would take me out of the mood. it was particularly a bit of a let down the first time i listened to the album. i kinda feel the same way about subterranean homesick alien after paranoid android, but sha is just a better song than the two that follow 2+2=5. now that i think about it, bulletproof has kinda wore off me too because my iron lung and just are so fucking killer. (just and my iron lung back to back = fucking awesome) ive always thought bulletproof was the weak link on the bends. but i think bulletproof is just subpar whereas you're suppose to get lost in those other songs off httt and okc. it doesnt work as much for me. good songs but its hard to place them right after the band rocks out like that.

aside from there there when it was the single, i think the first song i became utterly obsessed with on httt was we suck young blood. i still find that song extremely hypnotizing, i love everything about it.

i liked it a lot more after i saw it live. i can actually say i like all of radioheads albums, but the best are the bends and OK computer. I feel a lot of bands best efforts are their sophomore/third efforts.

nah, but I saw them in 2005 on that north american club tour, and yes the 'Hail to the Theif' songs were unbelievable, Especially 2+2=5.

yeah, something like that.
but there are still a gems on HTTT that are essential.
my main problem is the lack of continuity. a few songs are just jarring
a 10 (maybe 12 at most) song version would make it 200% better

you mean 2006, right?

i was singling out 2003 because of the larger # of HTTT songs being played then.

sure, they played a few HTTT tracks when i saw them in 2006, but the focus was more on all the new material being played that tour.

there are a few songs i don't particularly care for, but as a whole it's a solid record. IR still hasn't done anything for me (love bodysnatchers tho)

sail to the moon is outta this world (literally har har)

this is probably true. The Gloaming and I Will, while decent tunes, probably could have been left out. other than that i'm not really sure. There There is one of my favorite Radiohead songs though.

Amnesiac and Hail to the theif caused me to loose a lot of interest in Radiohead.

In Rainbows has given me hope but seriously somebody give these guys an adrenaline shot in the chest.

I cant believe they decided not to use Paperbag Writer and Where Bluebirds Fly for Hail To The Thief. A Wolf At The Door and I Will just arent that good. I always stop the album after Scatterbrain.
