It inspires me that the music I like offends you so. Every so often, we'll get into these little bitch-fights about music, and it makes me dig my heels in and go "Fuck this guy, I'm gonna listen to as much Porcupine Tree and Refused as possible just to spite him!" as if it will affect you some how.*

*not really, but it's fun to think about

Gave the new Depeche Mode a closer listen this morning. Enjoying it more and more.

New Jesus & Mary Chain is very...JAMC. Sounds a little dated, but in a good way.

we listened to it at work a couple times, its definitely better than most old bands that decide they need money and make a new album

I actually have found most of the bands from that era have come back pretty strong. I enjoyed the "comeback" albums from MBV, Dinosaur Jr., Mazzy Star etc. quite a bit.

I am cautiously optimistic with new Mastodon. I'm one of those dorks that waits 'til release. Be curious to know if they actually go back to a more prog-rock sound, as it's been hyped.

I own and am familiar with everything up to and including Gimme Fiction, but the new song that I keep hearing on my alarm radio just does not sound like that band at all and I don't like it. I can appreciate the evolution, and I'll probably give it a listen in the future (along with the rest of their post-2005 work). Just not in any rush at the moment.

Lafitte Don't Fail Me Now/The Agony of Lafitte (written about their ex-manager or whatever who apparently screwed them over big time) are probably my favorite tunes of theirs.

Omg go get "they want my soul" right now

It's their best album, imo, right up there with gimme and the one with the arms on the cover

I don't think I've heard anything from that. Based on your recommendation, I'll have a taste of it this evening and see if it's something I might want to add to the collection.

Yes, I still buy music.
