Era Vulgaris was my least fave until recently; another great thing about qotsa: catalog so diverse you can grow into and out of different flavors and colors of riffs n vibes

EV's got this virulent, corrosive sort of spirit. It's nasty, dirty, not just corrupted but hitting bottom, worldbroken-weary yet wild-eyed and primed for violence, like a badnews hitchhiker spotted suddenly in the headlights

Going out on a limb but I feel nobody but the most hardcore insane of dumpsterheaded addicts will ever deeply understand and feel and appreciate much of josh homme's catalog. He knows all the different dizzymaking scenes to that story so fucken well

I like this. You should write about music more.

That Tim Kasher record is really solid. It sounds more like Cursive than their last album did. I like it a lot.

I smoked pot pretty consistently from 2001-2009. I suppose that counts.

I'm not a huge QOTSA fan either. I do like some of their music but I don't see them as these amazing pioneers or anything

I can't think of anything I'm interested in that isn't exclusively a bandcamp release in 2017

Hey, did you see that band I posted in that other thread? I dunno, I think you might like it.

It's from 2016 I think, though. Were you interested in a Bandcamp release in 2016?

I had no idea Tim Kasher as still doing stuff. It seems like it's been so long since I've heard about anything about Cursive.

I Am Gemini was shit.

off topic / not 2017 but maybe for you and took: https://soundcloud.com/cvltnation/se...for-the-unreal

zebulon pike, a band that is maybe somewhere in between Sleep and King Crimson, sharing a band member with jazz band Happy Apple, that shares a band member with The Bad Plus. I love all of them.

I think it was AndySlash that introduced me to Happy Apple once, it was a local band for him. explored the associated bands shortly thereafter.

Gave the new AFI a spin last night (was feeling nostalgic for Sing the Sorrow era) and can confirm it is dogshit.

And yes Elph, we know AFI always sucked. Thank you.

Now I know what it feels like to be on the other side of those interactions where somebody goes, "hey Disco, you're a rocker, so I know you'll dig this!" and proceeds to show me some metalcore stuff because obviously liking some stuff that has loud guitars means I like all stuff that has loud guitars.

I'm embarrassed.

Hopefully I know Took's soul better, though.

I dunno, just trying to spread some local acts.
