Default Does Collective Soul still have modern hits?

Hey guys, dumb question, but perhaps somebody could help me out.

At my work they recently changed the music that plays. It's now all very modern stuff. Essentially a Taylor Swift song every hour with a bunch of dancey songs from bands with guys who sing like Maroon 5. I don't recognize a lot of the artists but there's definitely a lot of Katy Perry, Adelle ETC... You know, all of the big hits.

Anyhow, I swear there is about 2 songs that play where I'm sure it's the lead singer from Collective Soul. It doesn't sound anything like their original music though. It's super poppy but in a way that isn't 90's sounding at all.

I've done some poking around on google to see if they've had any recent hits and I can't find anything... Did the lead singer go on to have a successful solo career? I honestly had no idea that they've sniffed anything close to relevancy since the late 90's.

That's like asking if Candlebox or Silverchair (or Smashing Pumpkins) have any modern hits.

@Globes: No man, I shit you not. This is a modern-hits playlist and there's definitely 2 Collective Soul songs that play... 1 more than the other.

There's also a Counting Crows one that plays. Kinda funny that even those 90's acts are maintaining at least a semblance of relevancy but the Smashing Pumpkins can't.

lol and your evidence is "these two songs sound like whoever from collective soul is yowling on them" haha

my work does play this cover by CC, but it appears to be 15+ years old

Doing a little browsing, it looks like they've had some pretty decent charting singles in the past 10-20 years.

Here's some of their recent singles and how they performed on the Billboard Triple-A chart:

2009- "Staring Down" peaked at #15, spent 12 weeks on chart

2007- "Hollywood" peaked at #8, spent 20 weeks on chart!

2005- "Better Now" peaked at #10, spent 15 weeks on chart

2001- "Perfect Day" (featuring Elton John) peaked at #10, spent 15 weeks on chart

A lot better than I would've guessed... Certainly probably a lot better than anything Corgans managed lately.

Yes. Turns out it was Collective Soul. I'd recognize Ed Rollands voice anywhere.

Just surprising to me though. I thought the late 90's was the last time they sniffed any success. I knew they still toured and what not, but I didn't think they actually had any chart success with their new shit.

Yeah. I'm a GGD fan. They play a few of their newer songs too. I really like the song "Let Love In".
