Talking "It was the only project I ever walked away from"

Apparently, Billy believes he's only walked away from one project: Day For Night.

"Although a firm believer in Rubin’s abilities as a producer, an early draft of the mostly acoustic album came back with layered electronics which Corgan disliked."

---

"...even the inevitable question about a Pumpkins reunion was given a considered and detailed response.

“I used to think I would never see it happen, but I’m hopeful and open. Our music is aggressive but we’re still young enough to get it done. If we do get back together I’d like us to make new music.” "

I forget - did he actually ever explain why he abandoned it? This article says he had breakdown, but doesn't explain why at all.

He said that during the process he realised he couldn't play under the pumpkins name anymore, that he'd tried all forms and shapes to do that by himself before.

Does Teargarden not count as a project?

I wonder, how much demand is there for the Metro DVD now compared to five, ten, fifteen years ago? Would it still generate as much interest as it would back then if it were released? Should the iron have been struck while it was hot, or is it still hot? If not only makes it less likely for it to ever be released as time goes on.

i mean, any release is better than no release in terms of economics

it still kills me that he's sitting on a warehouse full of pristine SBDs from the double door shows onwards, apparently paying thousands to maintain the collection. fuckin hire a guy to rip and mix those and put them online and make some money back!

fuck, i'd do it for free

I'm sure a lot of people would do it for free, since they already do in the bootlegging community.

Heres an idea. Have a contest and pick 13 lucky people. Have them go thru the archives, sort it, and then release stuff online, like thru a radio fan club thing.
I still like my idea of a month dedicated to each album, in order. Start with Gish. Call it, "Gish month". Or do a cartoon interpretation of the Machina mystery. Or maybe, a follow up to 33...call it 66! And then another follow up, 99!! Surely, these are projects that once started, he wouldn't abandon. Amirite??

If only they worked together, they could have made it a great year.

I bet he is waiting to release it when the band gets back together next year.
