Didn't he end up changing his statement.

Oh I see He said, then he said he didn't mean it, then he said no I really did mean it. I think Wayne needs to spend another decade making an unwatchable art film that is horrible by even unwatchable art film standards.

Don't The Flaming Lips just hate everyone except Beck? I remember them slagging of REM recently too.

FLAMING LIPS frontman WAYNE COYNE was so bored by his early stint as a cook in an American chain restaurant, he entertained himself by ruining his patrons' dinners with cigarette ash.

The rocker worked as a cook at Long John Silver's before becoming a full-time musician, and he wasn't above having fun in the kitchen before rising to fame with the group.

He tells SPIN magazine, "I never spit (in the food). But I would do experiments with the coleslaw. I made 50 pounds at a time, and I worked there for almost 12 years, so I made a lot of that.

"And I would get bored. So I'd dump ashtrays literally right into the coleslaw and run it through the cutter, just to see if people would notice. They'd say, 'Oh, something was in my coleslaw!' and I'd be like, 'I don't know about that.'

I've tried to like the Flaming Lips, I really have. They just piss me off. Not Bon Jovi or Tom Petty or Journey level of hatred but pretty damn close.

On an unrelated note, I'm listening to The Goonies soundtrack.

OK but have you ever listened to this:
1990 In a Priest Driven Ambulance.zip

For you FLips slaggers, are you only familiar with Yoshimi or At War With The Mystics? If so, check out their earlier stuff, like the one above there.

I mean, everyone's entitled to their opinions, but I've seen people make uninformed opinons because they've only heard one Flaming Lips record and assume they've made 25-years of Yoshimi Battles the Shit Robots...

Actually I'm mostly familiar with their old material - had FINALLY THE PUNK ROCKERS ARE TAKING ACID comp on heavy rotation during my early college years - but everything to come just tarnished it so bad. They fucking suck.

I like every record the Flaming Lips have ever put out. That being said, I do prefer, pre-Soft Bulletin.

And Zaireeka is in a class by itself in terms of having new and interesting experiences.

Zaireeka is new and interesting for people who have no clue what new and interesting really is.

No, not really.

Not realizing that it's been done dozens of times before is just ignorant faux-indie gesturing.

New songs are out... listening now.

"The Suburbs" is light and breezy comparatively to Neon Bible (I mean that in the best possible way for both that album and this song)

"Month of May" irks me a bit... sounds like Antichrist Television Blues only not as good (although I didn't much like that song until recently)
