Were all the Siamese Dream live renditions downtuned in 96 like they were for the Reunion? I honestly don't know.

I guess my original point was that he's using performance wizardry in order to try and sing the songs and he's still failing miserably.

At least when he did it in 96, it sounded energetic and impressive.

he always struggled with singing on key. but they were a great live band despite this, and sometimes it even added to it in some ways. but it was mostly about the reworking of material, the emotion, and some improvisational parts of their concerts.

sure he sucks now.

Answer my question, were all the songs that were downtuned during the reunion downtuned in 96? Or was Cherub Rock the outlier? I almost feel like the downtuning in 96 was to make the song sound more heavy and grungy. I know he downtuned a lot in 2000, but I always thought that was more of trying fit in with the Nu-metal vibe.

Whatever the case, it's just a bad performance look. He's playing the songs in a different tuning, and he can't even pull THAT off vocally. People wanna hear the songs as they appeared on the record so they can relieve that nostalgic vibe. They don't wanna hear a bastardized version.
