Too busy not having a fragile ego that can’t handle even the slightest criticism without a total meltdown I guess

I've always found pavement to be an antithesis of smashing pumpkins with their lazy singing and IDGF attitude... like they just stumbled into fame. which is kind of bullshit since it actually takes lots of work to be a big band... kind of a honkey story to sell to teen kids that lazyness pays off.
fuck you pavement.

Can you tell the difference? Cab you here more then Billy's voice? See the crowd going mental? That's how it was.
Lol I was just having a go at ya man. It's all good.

I get that Pavement isn't for everyone, but the show you cited was some of the best footage from their reunion. I've watched it about 20 times over the years lol. If you like Pavement at all, the performance definitely didn't suck, granted I suppose they're not a really a typical group to headline such a massive festival.

I get that you had a wicked time seeing Billy Corgan live, and that's all good, but come on... It wasn't a very good performance. We can both agree on that. The set-list was:

The Fellowship
Lonely Is the Name
Today
Astral Planes
Ava Adore
A Song for a Son
Bullet With Butterfly Wings
Tarantula
United States
Spangled
Drown
Shame
Cherub Rock
Zero
Stand Inside Your Love
Tonight, Tonight

Encore:
Heavy Metal Machine

I guess they got the heavy-hitter hits in there, so that's nice, but the performance was very lackluster.

I'm not sure how you can argue when there's pro-shot footage of the entire thing

I watched this entire show a few months ago and was stunned by how bad Byrne was. I know that I drunkenly ranted and raved about him sucking all of the time, but in hindsight I assumed I probably might've been too hard on him... Wasn't the case.

Yeah I don't really buy it. The Pavement Lolapalooza story checks out IMO. Maybe Bill said "I don't wanna play the festival if Pavement is on it" or something and so technically that isn't getting them "kicked off". Whatever the case, one would be crazy to believe Corgan's spin over Malkmus', given both of their histories.

That shows your own 90's rock ignorance then.

Dude, Slanted and Enchanted was one of the landmark and most influential albums of the era. That's hardly "stumbling into fame".

The music really added to the atmosphere of the show IMO. The stock music they've edited in doesn't have the same umph. Still a great show though.

the only way that avatar could be more quintessentially Fuzzy Rose is if you shopped Beavis & Butthead in the background

Ahhh I see those Licking Lemon tall-boy cans on my desk. Those things were the bomb. None of the liquor stores out here carry them anymore. I assume the company went belly up. They were essentially coolers, they were 7% and tasted like 7-up with a tartyer taste. The best part was that a 6 pack of those babies was only 10 dollars. Bang for your buck, indeed!

So? They pretty much popularized that and guys like Beck and others later portrayed the same vibe.

Dude, I literally haven't even listened to a second of that release. I bet most of the "haters" here rushed to get a rip of that baby as soon as it dropped.

I did buy both Teargarden box sets though. I like the 2nd volume, that's a cool piece of memorabilia. The first I bought because I had an HMV gift card... Still can't believe I wasted it on that piece of cow-dung though.

I always thought it was a missed opportunity that King Of The Hill or Daria just didn't nonchalantly have Beavis and Butthead walk by in the background acting as cartoon extra in an episode... Just as if it's no big deal. How great would that have been? Would've been viral before there was such a thing.

I often wonder about the intelligence of the people who make these shows. I always think of so many missed opportunities.

Although I suppose the "Dewey" character on King Of The Hill was kind of a nod to Butthead.

Nope. Judge allowed MTV to have someone else oversee the series. He was too busy with KOTH
