I gave up on Weezer after Pinkerton. That sounds a bit hipster-ish of me, but it's hard to like shitty pop songs about Beverly Hills.

I actually enjoy the post-Pinkerton Weezer albums more than most people, but I'm still kinda wary of this one. Make Believe was really hit or miss even compared with Green and Maladroit. I'll definitely check the new one out though.

I suppose it's too much to hope that one day Rivers shows a glimpse of the brilliance that was on display on Blue and Pinkerton. I love those two albums almost as much as MCIS and SD.

that "glimpse of brilliance" was the fact that he used to not be so egomaniacal that he could collaborate with other people in the creative process

don't you notice weird and gross similarities between weezer2k and SP2?

No, that "glimpse of brilliance" was named Matt Sharp.

I, for one, believe Matt Sharp was the sole writer of most all of Pinkerton, weezer's best work to date.

Matt Sharps contributions to Weezer were as follows and limited to. Playing a very mediocre bass, making really lame oohs and ahs on record and making dumb faces in front of the camera. You have to be seriously retarded if you think Sharp was the brains behind Pinkerton. Sure you could make an argument about post Sharp Weezer but then somebody will just mention how the Rentals suck balls and solo Sharp sucks even harder.

Weezer's music is still better than average, ranging from above mediocre to decently good.

But of course on netphoria it's "unlistenable garbage".

I actually enjoy the Green album, Maladroit has a few good songs Slave being my favorite. Make Believe also has some good tunes. I just think alot of the songs they scrapped for album five like Private Message, Mansion of Cardboard etc were way better than what we got.

I mean, obviously Beverly Hills is a fucking stupid song, but it's still better than most of the shit you are likely to be exposed to on a daily basis.

We can ban it when Netphoria stops being a hub of Pitchfork reading pompous cunts, in other words never.

i don't understand why we have to like stuff because it better than most other stuff though. I mean you don't have to constantly read pitchfork in order to listen to non-mainstream shit

Ugh, Pitchfork. If you go there to get a list of new albums that all your "indie" peers are listening to, fine - but their reviews are unbearable these days.

This thread, if nothing else, shows that both of the following arguments are retarded and should be banned from this board:

"*insert band here*'s music is still better than average, ranging from above mediocre to decently good." - the 'it's better then the other shit out there' argument

and

"We can ban it when Netphoria stops being a hub of Pitchfork reading pompous cunts, in other words never." - the 'all your base are belong to pitchfork' argument

And they say redbreegull doesn't make a contribution to netphoria.

i have been to Pitchfork TWICE in my entire life. no shit.

i get my fix from allmusic.com. I dont download music because some reviewer says that its good; i download stuff similar to other stuff that i like.
