More of the same. The vocals on Purple Blood are better. Sounds Adore-esque in places.

Dulet in E, meh. At least it has guitars on it. Bit sick of that one-note high synth sound at this stage.

Purple has at least a special vibe, I like the instrumentation. That´s how u should use electronic parts.

Dulcet is typically what i expected as track 4.... a boring, horrible synth based production with no highlights, repetitive and this typically post 2000 shitty billy singsang

Lol no mate that’s not how you should use electronic parts, unless you’re a Depeche Mode cover band.

I’ve always liked TFE and the only positive thing of CYR is how fresh and listenable that album sounds now compared to this sorry mess of plastics, silicon and random female backing vocals.

Be nice if the songs (not just these two) had longer intros. As it is Cyr has the longest (about 30 seconds). The rest of them have Billy coming in around the 10 - 15 second mark, if not straight away.

Yeah he just won't shut his yapper will he? At least he is enjoying his singing.

OK, so 2 more songs and both are mediocre-crap. What an album!

PURPLE BLOOD

I’m in love with your god
I’m in love with your fear
By the touch of your hand,
I’m far from here
Oh, for sunny days
When life was flat embrace
And might love come what may

Shot to ground
Set it off, like your phoenix I will fly
From dread dawns to sky

I’m in love with your god

Fever by your side
Sun is so you cannot rise
Fever by your side
Sun is so you cannot rise
I’m in love with your god
I’m in love with said fear
By the blush of your thorn
I’m lost but near
But, oh, for sunny days

Shot to ground
Set it off, like your phoenix I will fly
From dread dawns to sky

I’m in love with your god

Fever by your side
Sun is so you cannot rise
Fever by your side
Sun is so you cannot rise
Hunger greets my flees
So solace thunder agony
A fever by your side
Sun is so you cannot rise

___________

DULCET IN E

From our tree swings an apple
A pear or a candle
That once caught captive of your love
Is asked by dear time to sway
Is asked by dear time to sway

Never held, the memory unto
Our edifice as serves you
Is singly rhapsody and koan
Where a heart like mine belongs
Where a heart like mine belongs
No flower outlives its raindrop
No tower outlives its hilltop
I'm necromancer and your balm
Is it hearth of silent knowledge
From fount of easy bondage
I'm never more than you could want
Where a heart like mine belongs
Where a heart like mine belongs
Yes, where a heart like mine belongs

From our tree, swings an apple
A pear or a candle
That once caught is captive of your love
From our tree swings an apple
A pear or a candle
That once caught is captive of your love

No flower outlives its raindrop
No tower outlives its hilltop
I'm necromancer and your balm
Where a heart like mine belongs
Where a heart like mine belongs
Yes, where a heart like mine belongs

I listened with my good headphones and there is a barely audible "s" at the end, although I can't hear any "d" sound at all.

I actually like that part, it's a nice hook, but I'll never understand why he can't pronounce words properly.

After listening to the song a couple of times, I now hear

WHERE A HEART LIKE MINE BELONGS

Purple Blood probably had some potential but yet again, baffling production choices make this unlistenable. Those backing vocals are atrocious.

Lol... it seems that i am the only one left to dig some songs. I like purple blood, but dulcet is this cheesy instrumentation that sounds like a song for kids.....

Overall we know that synth are all over the 20 tracks. No big diversity there.
Youtube comments overwhelming, how come?

Purple Blood is a good song if it had 1997 vocal mixing but I just can't understand how they listen back to this mix and think it's okay to release? Will someone just tell the fucking man to turn his vocals down? It's been 13 years of this already.

I'd say it's easily the best of the new songs. Reminds me a bit of Eye, which is a compliment.

But the idiotic vocal mix, we all know this is the way forever and forever.

Will be the same thing with the Machina reissue, although at least he was still singing mostly decently back then.

Dulcet is sub-Coldplay.

Every song just seems so disposable to me. They're all the same structure, same length, plodding drums.

In the old days Purple Blood would have built up to something in the end, maybe some Jimmy drums to change the dynamic, some distorted guitar.

White Spyder will become “Wie syde” with vibrato pushed to the front of the mix

But this is the modern style - we giving people what they want in this very specific regard, but doing our own thing otherwise... Zzzz

They're ok. I feel that they could both be modest hits if sang by a young woman with a nice big bum.

Dulcet in E. There's not really anything wrong it. Nice song.

Purple Blood. Stick a noisy tonnes of pedals and feedback solo about 2/3rds in and come back in at 3:15ish with some heavy fuzz guitar, noisy lead and maybe big acoustic drums for another go around of the chorus. Then everyone goes whoooo instead of "that's it?".

"Do the needful" as they say in India.

Overall, typical of this whole countdown thing. Couple of nice enough songs that are good as part of the album but not exciting or substantial enough to be singles. Mental release strategy to be honest.

Billy’s vocals on Dulcet are horrible. Purple’s alright I guess. I listened to about 20 seconds of both, like I’ve done the whole album, and came to the conclusion it’s trash.

Fuck you, Billy.

Fucking garbage 0/10

So far the only song I like legitimately like is Birch Grove, and even that sounds like a boring Future Embrace reject

I suppose Dopemeine Addict is ok

These new ones are pointless though
