I ask that, a day after having read this: Missouri Republican senator introduces bill allowing the refusal of service for religious reasons

i'd say florida is a lot like texas in that it's a bunch of progressive urban enclaves surrounded by hardcore christian conservatives. we went blue the last two presidential elections though.

our gubernatorial election cycle is offset from the presidential cycle by two years, so we haven't had a democrat in the governor's mansion since the 90s because old people have nothing better to do on election day.

i wouldn't go that far. governor lux luthor got in by spending $75 million on his own campaign, never having held political office before. he plans to spend more than that this year. his approval ratings aren't total shit. crist would beat him in an election were it held today, but really, when they start pumping the ads on tv, it will probably swing back into scott's favor unfortunately.

i'd love to be wrong, but that's how florida is.

i haven't looked at any recent polls but the ones i've seen had a pretty crazy spread. of course its going to close in as the election nears and its not 'in the bag' or anything. but if gov. voldemort got re-elected it'd be a comeback of (what i'd assume to be) historically unprecedented proportions

Marikkkopa etc

I'll stay out of your American politics but as a foreigner I will say Florida seems on the surface to be a lot less offensive than Texas.

crist leads by only two points as of last month. he should have never tried to run against rubio for the senate.

dems should've just dumped meek (who i'm a fan of btw) and crist shoukdve ran as a dem from the get go. still wouldve lost in the political climate of the time but doing "independent" made him look really weak

though, yeah, he shouldn't have run to begin with

had he beaten rubio in the primary, he would have won the senate seat, no doubt. he even had substantial support from the left at that point. he resisted a lot of really terrible education policies (merit pay for teachers) and came around on the gay marraige thing. but he decided to nader it up and split the vote.

i can't articulate how much i don't like rubio. he says a whole lot of nothing all the time and got where he is on the cynicism of gop voters who did the electoral equivalent of "i'm not racist. i have a hispanic friend."

i like how they gush over how "articulate" and "passionate" or [insert adjective alluding to him being "their obama"] he is. like he has some grand vision but literally everything that comes out of his mouth his just whining. it'd be like if in obama's 2004 speech at the democratic convention he just complained about how terrible bush is for over half an hour

that pretty much sums up the state of the GOP as a whole so i guess he really is their "leader" atm

I unfortunately found myself reading comments on a yahoo article about Michelle Bachman's support of this bill. This was a serious thought offered as to why gay rights have gained so much ground in recent years:

Quote:
The national Census estimated that this country has 4 times more Christians than all those who voted in the past 9 major elections, COMBINED. The average Christian tends to be more complacent because overall, we are generally more successful than the average American, and we get lazy because of it.

yes the silent majority...oh there's so many of them!!!

because of that we should rule but if we're the minority party then we are being trampled

i think a bomb should be dropped on this country. a contraceptive bomb.
