Chicago trip 11/29/00 - 12/02/00 / 18 year United Center Anniversary
Calling all OG Netphorians who made this trip nearly 20 years ago. Please post any/all pics you may have in your archives from that trip. I loved the Netphorian name tags someone made and handed out at the Days Inn on Clark Street. I'm looking at Caine Walker, Trostky, peabody, Shandy, pale princess, etc if anyone is still around. Would love to see the old video of the LAB after-party (can someone put this on YouTube? All the links in the Archives post are now defunct), pictures of anyone on their trip to Chicago for this historic week. I believe I have a VHS Never_Nohen (now in Antarctica?) filmed of that week.
I remember bitter cold, incredible excitement to be there and jonesing hard for a Metro ticket. I realize that probably less than half of current Netphoria were even around during that time, but with the Machina resissue finally coming out it's got my nostalgic vibe going strong. Any of y'all still around and want to share? Last edited by tweedyburd : 09-23-2018 at 06:34 PM. |

i was there with a friend. we went to LAB. we went to UC. i got us on the guest list for metro during rehearsal the night before by meeting jimmy on the street as he arrived. after the show, we were moved into smartbar, the club next door, to wait for the after party. my friend accidentally left our camera in the club. no pics, all memories.

I was there, but cell phone cameras were not invented yet, hence no pictures. Pics or it didn't happen? I guess it didn't happen...

I'm in there, somewhere. That place was fuckin creepy--especially the rickety horror movie wooden stairwell you had to walk up.

Yup, we're probably lucky the entire floor didn't fall in. Looking back, that was beyond sketchy. How this place chosen for that, haha?! It was like an abandoned junkie house.

Lots of fun and boy, howdy, we made some great memories!
The Lab was HILARIOUS! It was like the most awkward high school house party but like instead of teenagers getting wasted and getting laid, we just yelled over r4r3 l33t traxxx. I think the "day off" day was the funnest - the 30th? Exploring Boystown and later on hotel party! Somehow I ended up getting a suite for the price of a room at the Days Inn Lincoln Park, so ofc the party was in my room! Word spreading on the 1st that SP would be rehearsing at the Metro that night, going out there with a hoarde of folks... after it cleared out a few of us stuck around and hung out at Wrigleyville dogs... I was vegetarian at the time, so the only thing I could eat there was spanokopita lol. Finally getting in line, meeting more people... it was cold, but Chicago winters aren't that much different than Toronto ones, so I was fine. Everyone shared blankets and earbuds and snacks and ppl took turns going to McDonalds for coffee and hot chocolate. Took a walk to get some flowers at a grocer nearby as a bunch of folks were getting bouquets for Billy & Melissa so ofc I got one for Jaymz lol. Then the show was awesome!!! Then I got drunk again!!! Then took the bus back the next morning lol. Can someone help me make a teen movie out of this? |

18 year United Center Anniversary
It's been quite the lifetime since those days. I still believe 2000 was the best year to be a fan. Seeing the video of dross stirred a bit of the old feelings..but then I remembered infowars & knights of malta.
Who on the board was there in Chicago for those cold, hectic, fun, frenzied final shows day? |

I was at the UC show. The thing that sticks out the most was the fairly intense strobe light show during the song Glass' Theme, and the long encore that included Billy's dad and a Bulls jersey.

Random revisiting this thread.
Saw this video recently and remembered the girl at 1:15 (standing behind the crowned princess) was hanging out with our crowd that week but I can't for the life of me remember her name. She was active on this board at the time, was super quite in person and I think her user name started with a "C". Anyone remember her? Caine Walker or Pale Princess? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9j4CDWQKoM |

good question. wasn't any discussion about this person. most likely was an alt of a banned person and one of admins caught it and banned them
