I just hate this synth bullshit because it seems engineered purely as a 'fuck you' to us and nothing more. synthpop can certainly be good but the fact that he's taking these incredible musicians and making them sound processed to death absolutely destroys any goodwill i could have for the record

Theres the embedded video for forthcoming lazy souls...

As said, it didn't sound THAT different from the album version. But I really dug that asthetically. I've yet to see one of these musical numbers on a live show that is really cool, but that was good looking.

As also said, BC w/o a guitar is hard. But at least because it stayed tight on his face you didn't have dancing. But the lack of guitar in BC's hands showed that James (... and Jeff, but really, James) was/is involved and at some level was involved in this.

Gonna go on a limb, albeit a short one, and say that this is the raddest thing that's come out of this album cycle.

also agree - not having to see bill dance likely is the raddest thing about this album cycle

Didn’t mind it. Is this just a music video? Because I swear I hear the thwack of Jimmy’s snare more here than on the album. Sounded good in the media room anyway. I enjoyed watching Jeff and James play their bits

So JC mimed it- they used the tracks they recorded with the samples lower in the mix- JS and JI recorded a take and BC sang karaoke over the rest of the track.

Yawn

That was pretty good, nice to see James playing along, the chugging sounded good. Plus perhaps this video eludes to the fact that a lot of those "synth" lines were actually played on guitar (it's easy to make a guitar sound like a synth).

That or Jeff was just miming the part to make it look like someone was playing it.

Billy was fine. I was expecting to see him hunch over a bank of synths, wearing a cape a la Rick Wakeman.

Billy’s vocals were pretty bad. Sounded extra strained and often sharp or flat. And lol at how much vibrato he used during that middle break down part... sounded like someone grabbed his shoulders and shook him hard while he was getting the words out. Pretty cringe.

As for the rest, the small extra bits James added on top sounded great. Gave the song some personality that went really well with it. It’s amazing how he seems to have always had a knack for keying in on little things in songs that evoke emotion that would otherwise be bland. And the sound of an actual drum kit for Jimmy improved the song dramatically, too. Had me wondering if he’d been allowed to open up little more... what the song, and album, could have been.

Also, Billy’s crap singing in that had it sound like “We’re on the vag, we’re on the vag.”

It was good for what it was. Everyone looked good, and I liked the editing. LOL at classic James looking focussed or bored depending on your own mood. I think I prefer how this sounds over the album, especially James' playing and the guitar synth sound.

Cool

Damn this is so cool! Pumpkins are back fuckers.

This vids got it all: an impassioned WPC, close-ups of Jimbo's guns, 2 note Iha solo, and Jeff in full "meek sheepdog" mode (perfect compliment to Iha's "intergalactic alpaca of yester-yore).

Would have been interesting to see them playing live in the room definitely.

That was better than I thought, though I remember the days Corgan used to brag about them not playing to a click and how the tempo would speed up and slow dawn in ways that would benefit the song.

I guess I understand what he's going for here, I just imagined Dave Gahan singing this track, and it made more sense. I just don't think Billy does synth at the level of a Depeche Mode or New Order, so the music seems a little thin.

The performance was good I just wish they would turn up those guitars. They sounded nice but were too low. I get not wanting to deviate too far from the album as this just came out and they want it to be representative of how it is there. There are about 10 other songs from Cyr I wish they would have played instead of this one, though.

Wow, I actually enjoyed that performance. The song was better than I remembered it.

All the rampant positivity on here lately is making me want to give the album another listen, after I already deleted it from my music player thing.

The performance was pretty much karaoke. Also Jeff looks more like one of those racing dogs with the long snout.
