if Oceania isn't modestly successful then SP will never be commercially credible again. he's bigged it up (great band chemistry, focus of recording an album, feeling of being SP again) so that's it's difficult to see how he can make excuses if it fails. of course he has previous form for this kind of thing (Adore: no Jimmy, Machina: Virgin, Zwan: er, the band, Zeitgeist: forget, but he made an excuse somewhere, TbK: flawed release strategy etc), so if Oceania makes no impact idk how he rationalizes it.

if Oceania flops, he's already said he'll have to re-evaluate what direction SP goes from there. personally i'd like to see him take a year out of recording and put together a proper CD release of pre-Gish material and also the great Zwan songs that didn't make it onto MSotS. of course, this won't happen, which is kind of too bad.

without a doubt he should release more zwan stuff. nice. i figure we've prolly heard most of the worthwhile adore/machina stuff. what would really be nice is a release of everything recorded for mcis. every bit of tape they have from that. it won't happen of course.

mania (or especially hypomania) can manifest as irritability so i guess that's possible. he doesnt seem to have manic episodes often, but some of his twitter fights with C Love sure had a bit of a manic flare but maybe that was just a lot of anger.
