I don't want a hug I want these tracks as non-album tracks.

Did he record any of that in some radio studio while he was in London?

The acoustic tracks of MTAE back then were 10 times better than the album, I actually enjoyed them.

I just listened to Aeronaut and the Spaniards. It's good. I am pleasantly shocked. His voice is strong and denasalized. I don't think I will listen to them again (not my cup of tea) biut still: I like it.

Go b0lli!!

I lack patience and willingness to hear another Zowie, if I want to give 3 songs of this a try- which 3 are the 3 best songs (aka most liked around here) of the album?

track 6 I see mentioned, Half-life of an Autodidact, what else?

thanks!
(still faster than I was with Teargarden, that took over 2 years to listen to, I don't want to listen to this in 2020 just to fulfill my have-to-give-it-a-try-OCD.)

I think Half-Life sucks balls. Can't understand why people liking it. Just because it's played faster than the other songs (which mostly also suck too)? Yeah, I can see that.

man, is there any other link where we can stream Ogilala in Europe? npr doesn´t work.

I´ve heard zowie, spaniards and aeronaut so far and zowie is my absolute favourite. I like the crack in his voice ..."Oh, I carry back your love to win??Lovin the instrumentation and the vibe so far, too. If the rest has the quality of some b-side material like Towers of Rabble, Purr Snickety, Once in a while, etc.. I´ll be really happy

Half-Life, Spaniards and Long Goodbye are the 3 worst tracks on here.

Hightlights are The Processional, Aeronaut, Antietam, Archer...

Tracks 7-11 are all great, a solid run of songs, but the album really needs some variety and a couple of big-hitters in the first half and instead it has Spaniards. One of Billy's problems is he wastes tracks that could fulfill the lead single role... like surely some of the Day 4 Night, Cardinal Rule, Red Orange Black (for a welcome change of song length) could have gone on here... get Jimmy guesting on bongos on some tracks, a full-band Aeronaut or less-saccharine Tom Tom or even some of the Monuments tracks produced in this style and they could potentially have worked as "singles" to tentpole the album. Still think this is the right direction for Corgan - he really needs the other Pumpkins to diversify and filter his song choices and lyrics.

Musically, I think a lot of the songs are great.

But vocally, I still can't get past that forced, weird, terrible vibrato he uses. I almost think it's a tick that he has now and couldn't get rid of it even if he tried. If he could rerecord all of these new songs without the vibrato, I'd be a huge fan. But as it stands, I never want to listen to the album again, as it both annoys and embarrasses me.

took that might be because you haven't heard his voice without this shit in years.

he can actually sing without that stunt, too, as it was heard on the last acoustic tours. and then your ears don't bleed which is a nice change. you on the other hand love bloody ears, I know.

I can get past the singing style in some cases here, but could someone tell him what a piano is real quick? it sounds like wrestling moves damaged the keys for maximum show effect.

Heh. I am just trying to be nice to Billy. It must suck to have all your truest fans (you know netphoria is kvlt as fvck) hate you.

But yeah I probably won't ever listen to this again. I. feeling Wolves in the Throne Room and I think I shall check out Sumac (aaron turner destroyed saturday night and his drummer is fucking incredible).

yea I made my way through this now, there are 2 or 3 tracks I'll listen to again, otherwise I just fell head first into a bandcamp purchase spree and got albums where I don't have to force myself to listen to it.
So see ya for nostalgia-relistening in 2030, Ogiblabla. I'd still like to hear all these songs in some radio session, less slaughtered.

I think he is straining and pushing to get his voice to react more like it used to. I wouldn't say it sounds great, but it's a big jump forward from other studio recordings in recent years

his piano chops are a joke now. He's gotten so bad it's laughable. I do believe Vixnix's kids could do better

If these songs were Machina outtakes I would have gotten a boner. Because they would have been sung without vibrato and contained all relevant consonants. However, as nice as they are, ultimately they are WPC17. Which tarnishes them. Even if Billy thinks the way he sings now, presently, is better, it's not. Show me ONE popular mainstream singer who sings with dropped consonants and vibrato. My guess is Airplane mode likes vibrato and dropped consonants and encourages such silly behavior. She is Bollys Yoko.

Drinking Bushmills on the rocks, smoking pot and listening to the new album. Some of these things go together. Archer is coming on, gotta go.
