Yes Toon of the Pavement, I shall charge my pos phone and take pics tomorrow. My grandpa is buried in the Varazdin cemetery, which I hear is famous. The little castle in the center of town is sweet too, but you can probably find better images on google.

I will be here in Croatia for only four days. Then a month in Bosnia (Gradiska and Derventa). I will take pics.

It only makes you weird (from my POV) that you've hired movers every time you move.

I have literally moved 20+ times and only hired movers once. It was in the midst of my divorce and it was July 4th and no one was around to help. So, I had no other choice.

but yeah no i'm too poor to hire movers every time. i just used to own a lot more shit when i was with my ex, so it was essential back then. you tend to accumulate a lot of stuff that way.

now i live in a furnished apartment though so all i need to do is show up, basically.

I want to tell you guys about my cousin Dragana (means Dear or Beloved). When I got here to Varazdin I found out that she had put $150 euros into my bag before I left Vienna. Her sister put $50 euros in my hand (Vesna is probably my favorite cousin).

Anyway, Dragana. She's always the kindest and the most tender-hearted, and the toughest and the one who has suffered the most. She got married at 17 (my dickhead dad did the wedding) to a 26 year old who beat her. She divorced him (my dad counseled her to get back with him) and went into a deep depression. Then she met a really cool dude and started a super successful makeup business in Vienna. At 33 she found out she had intestinal cancer and lost her business to someone who cheated her. She had 17 surgeries and chemo. During this time the 'cool dude' left her for another woman. They gave her two years to live. That was eight years ago.

Her sister Vesna just told me that her lab results from two weeks ago are the worst since the chemo. Looks like the cancer might be back. Dragana never let on to it while I was there. Always smiling, always encouraging me (even when she told me it was ok to marry a man lol), when she hugged me it was super long. She's dying, slowly and she's the kindest of all my relatives by a long shot.

based on anecdotal evidence - the hair.

I had a pixie cut when I visited family homes around Croatia (so no matter how modern, they were various forms of catholics, and it showed, including more than just outdated gender stereotypes) , while my male travel companion had longer hair. it was a running theme that we were "reversed" - clearly my short hair suggested I am masculine and into women, while he was naturally as gay as possible.

Come to think of it, I rarely meet gay men with long hair. Most of them, in my experience, keep it shorter. Or maybe have a pompadour or something.

I have noticed a correlation between short hair and gay women, though. Which is funny, because I dig short hair, so I end up discovering that girls I'm into are lesbian.
