Why did billy decide to dress normally while in zwan?
I was watching a couple of live shows today from the whole zwan era and it was just very different seeing billy in normal clothes

zwan weren't ROCK STARS yet
don't you think the band was all super annoyed by the different versions of zwan billy was incarnating if it lived longer, i'm sure tons of odd aspects would have been exposed. |

billy always said sp was more of an art project complete with costumes whereas he wanted zwan to be more organic.... that and there was probably no chance in hell pajo or sweeney were going to go along with an outfit....at first.

Billy said in Paste magazine, I believe, that the costume and look and everything is a part of the Pumpkins. And that he'd have to bring that back if he is to revive the band.
It's almost like he thinks he can't dress normally in the Pumpkins. |

how is dressing up "part of sp"? They didn't start doing that until they'd been around for like 7 years. Well, aside from the occasional dress on billy or james, that is. Was the polyester of 1993/94 all just a costume? Those bastards.

I imagine I would've felt kind of alienated if I had been a pumpkins fan all through Gish and Siamese Dream and then suddenly Billy comes out with silver pants and a shaved head. Good thing the music was so good.

The Pumpkins had costumes, so naturally Zwan did not.

im almost positive billy atire in zwan was chosen by someone else as a costume just as much as his dresses or his zero outfit. he wore the same outfits enough consistantly with zwan that it appears to me that the whole point was they were costumes of anti-costume.

maybe because of all the indiefucks in the band they decided like it would be best to dress like a bunch of indiefucks and try to rape that market.

I actually wish the getups would stop. Aside from the chicks, that is. I dig the short-short skirt that Ginger is wearing now. Got a bit of an S&M vibe. Yes, my dark mistress. Me likey.
Hell, she should start playing in a bikini. That would rule.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the way Billy dresses, but man is this weird to watch in 2008 |
