I seriously hope that nobody here who says it all sounds the same listens to Weezer, Tool, or The Ramones.

Most Pearl Jam songs have a lot of complexities, and you can't really just sit down, listen to a PJ album and on the first try completely soak it all in, and comprehend it. You have to grow with it and learn with it and get your fingers muddy with the album and go looking for yourself for what you love about it.

Which is why I can't buy 5 CD's a week. Of any artist.

Kurt would have gotten over it. He disliked their debut album, but he was basically mouthing what Mark Arm had been claiming in 1990. Mark Arm got over it, and Kurt would have too.

As far as I'm concerned, Pearl Jam is the best band in the world right now. Better than anyone else currently together. Every one of their albums are brilliant, every one of their songs heartfelt, honest, and passionate. To tell you the truth, I'm a bigger fan of PJ than I am of SP. Are you ready to banish me yet?

I respect them as a band, however, Eddie Vedder's voice on most songs makes me want to stab myself in the neck with something rusty.
Also, the mohawk has got to go. But that's just my two cents.

they have the heavy-soft dynamics that I like in my favourite bands.
They aren't necessarily as diverse as some of those bands, they rarely change styles for instance.
But they're good at what they do and each album does sound adequately different to the last.

I have a soft spot for ten.

They really aren't anything too spectacular in my opinion....but Ten and Vitalogy are great albums. Vs. and Yield are pretty good too...I don't have No Code.

But I think that Binaural is just awful. Completely unlistenable. I've listened to it once, and I don't think I'll ever listen to it again. And no, it would never grow on me. Don't ask me how I know that...it just wouldn't. I hope their next album is better.

i didnt like Binaural that much either. "insignificance" and "sleight of hand" are the only gems on there. even Stone Gossard said they can do much better than Binaural. he said he wants the next album to have the same energy Temple of the Dog had. whatever that means.

If you only listen to an album once, really, your opinion is pretty much completely invalid, no matter how much you disliked it the first time.

You just do not understand.

I struggled to get through each song. I wanted desparately to skip each and every song. By far the worst album I've bought in a long, long time. I've disliked other albums on the first listen, and I've given them other chances. Binaural is different. I'd listen to a Blink 182 album twice before I'd listen to this one again.

But just to make you happy, I'll listen to it again tonight and tell you what I think.

Please do...it's one of my favorites. Actually, they're all my favorites, but I worship Binaural.
