Swervedriver is all right. Kinda boring, one of the less-interesting shoegaze bands, but I'd totally see them live for the right price. Saw them once, and they put on a good show.

Failure is good, though I haven't even given their later stuff, which is said to be more representative of the band, that much of a listen yet. I'm most familiar with Comfort, and apparently, it gets better after that. I just haven't listened to Fantastic Planet many times, because it's long and it's hard for me to find the time to listen to long albums.

I saw the Faulire-Hum tour and loved it, although it was obvious Hum hadn't been on the road in a while and Failure totally outdid them. I like Failure's new album but don't know much about Swervedriver. I feel like I've listened to them but just can't remember. What fucking SUCKS is that I'll be in Portland the night they are playing there, but wont be able to attend. It's not like my (then) 20 month old can watch herself in a hotel room, and I don't have the level of selfishness to drag her into a smoke filled, loud, drunken concert hours past her bed time. Damn it, parenthood. I hope it's a good show, Kellii is so nice.

Kellii personally handed me a signed drumstick after their recent(ish) Fantastic Planet tour, and I guess it got lost in one of my billion cross country moves. Fuck!

You can divide fantastic planet into three eps pretty easily. Which they literally did for the new one. Just use the segues as endpoints

The album flies by for me, does not seem like a chore. I like the most recent one quite a bit, as well as the early part of their discography, but I struggle with a fair portion of The Heart Is A Monster. It's mostly good, though.

On a personal/business level, they really conduct themselves the way a 90s band who wants to keep original fans plus reach a new audience should. And others should take notes.

Interesting how some of their b-sides are resurfacing. I like the new and more modern versions of songs like Pennies and Petting The Carpet, although I still prefer the original and more raw-sounding versions.

In 2014 I contacted Ken and got permission to record audio of this show. It was such a stellar set and the recording turned out really well. Need to see if they are still with the same tour manager. I hope so, they were beyond nice and cool about everything.

Hum hasn't played here since 1998. I've never been able to see them and I'm starting to think they enjoy torturing me. Wanted to make it to a recent Chicago show but it didn't work out.

they've been nice and cool about everything i've ever said to them, too. we should just make this a board about Failure, and other similarly pleasant space rock bands.

hook me up with the small crimes and bernie recording, also. i've seen every other one of those songs played live, and small crimes is in my top 5 favorite tracks by them.

Small Crimes is definitely top 5. Funny how the lead guitar track uses the same notes as Undone but in a different order, they sounds like two completely different songs.

Muffled Snaps is another personal favourite of mine.

They seriously know how to end an album. I relistened to The Heart Is A Monster last night, and I Can See Houses was one of several highlights. And Daylight goes without saying.

Failure's first show in 16 years (2014). Audio remixed by Ken.
