so this version is just the master mixes, without mastering, is that correct?

listening to sacred+profane now. i remembered it as one of the most compressed tracks on the record, and this mix does sound like it has a little more headroom. some elements are clearer than what i'm used to.

Basically, except for Sacred and Profane and Age of Innocence.

sacred + profane is still the same mix that's on the album, isn't it? just with that extended intro which was presumably just cut off post-mastering

despite it being very close to the final product, somehow on this promo glass & the ghost children is more of a welcome listen for me
maybe something to do with the less compression benefitting the more dynamic songs on here (it & stand inside, for 2)

it's all pretty much identical to the album, upon some more listening

i can't really spot a difference. i thought the premixes will be somewhat clearer, but if there's a difference it's negligible as far as i can tell

a/b it at least once, the difference is more obvious than mellon collie and its remaster - though obv it won't be that apparent just listening to one without the other, since it's purely dynamic/master eq'ing diferences & not really anything taken or added on the production side of things

i have heard masters where the drums sound pretty notably different from the pre-master mix tho

the mcis reissue was great to me, i heard the difference right away.
more clarity at the top end, no question. i was surprised so many folks complained about it.

there are some tracks that benefit more than others

i guess i'm still just remembering the first time i'd compared any of 'em & it was bodies and any differences in mastering were very subtle
