Hummer - Machester, UK - 09/15/1993
So, this particular show is and has been well known as one of the better sound quality shows over the years.
The full show that is here - https://archive.org/details/tsp1993-...hn/Track06.shn and also documented as the Spaceboy Bootleg on SPFC which is here http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/boot.html?boot_id=94 Over the years I have looked and looked and looked for hours for a version of Hummer from this show that is the same as the version I have and I have never been able to find it. Due to the intro (until about 1:18) this version is far and away better than any other version I have found. The drums and the bass are just insane. Personally, this is one of my all time favorite live recordings. I uploaded it here so you guys can take a listen. https://odawg.design/Clients/Rob/smashing-pumpkins/ |

Yeah the Manchester Academy show is killer. The Del Mar Fairgrounds show is equally as good and a must own. Released recently on this bootleg:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/INSIDE-DREA.../dp/B015961UZS I have it and it's awesome. The version of Hummer is particularly great also. |

what's the story behind it? |

The mix sounds different on the file you posted. Is it from a radio broadcast of the show? sounds more compressed

Live recordings often sound better than studio tracks. Bands tend to overthink things while in the studio; in concert they'll be more relaxed, more enthusiastic, and more able to express themselves through their instruments

it's a great performance but i'm not sure what tehbolly means, it's obv live just with the soundboard utilized to get the close-mics & direct ins from instruments so it ain't just "Bobby Joe" in the audience with a hand-held

You are welcome Mals_Marola. Glad you guys are enjoying this, like I said I really searched for years and years for an identical copy to see if I could somehow get it in a FLAC but to no avail.
My entire Spaceboy Bootleg is an entirely different recording source based on all of my research. The unfortunate part of all of this, is that I think I sold the actual hard copy roughly 7-8 years ago once I found that you could get these online. I will look to make 100% sure, I know I still have a few but I forget which ones. James had signed my Dusseldorf Germany 1996 Bootleg when I was fortunate enough to get some 1 on 1 time with each member of the band (my dream come true). http://prntscr.com/hydox5 He signed it "to naked man, james pumpkin" this was in reference to James and I talking about that show and he told me that the naked guy who went on stage, was actually a member of Chumbawamba (P.S it's so cool that we have the ability to come online and see video of certain shows to back up our years of listening experiences over the years) If I was to upload this show for everyone, which site or method is the best for everyone? |
