Even though it seems like the same concept as 28 Days Later, I'd still like to see it. It could be horrible but it could be pretty good, who knows. I just like that one of the two main characters is a German shepherd Although in one preview I saw, they pretty much tell you that the dog dies.
I'd like to go see it tonight but I have a feeling it's going to be crowded, I think we may go see Juno tonight with our friends. |

Man, I was really excited to see this movie 'til I started hearing about how similar the theme of it is to the 28 Days/Weeks series...one guy fighting off flesh-eating zombies in a post-apocalyptic city. Don't get me wrong, I fuckin' loved both of the 28 movies, but hearin' that Legend is somewhat a knockoff of that series has me a lot less willing to go venture out to the theater to see it. The review of it I read this morning in the Philadelphia Inquirer didn't make it sound so good, either: "I Am Legend is essentially 28 Days Later..., or 28 Weeks Later..., only with millions more for special effects and with nothing approaching the heartpounding, bloodcurdling power and smarts of the two British-made yarns." Nonetheless, I still look forward to your review, peabody.

All I really had to say about the movie was "eh" - it wasn't terrible, it's wasn't great. It is essentially "3 years later", which I actually didn't mind. Same idea, different take. I also loved the fact that most of the dialogue in the movie is Will Smith talking to a dog. And no, no CGI dog Mayfuck. Spoiler sorta? The dog dies, if you watched the extended preview you know this...so it's not really a spoiler. But I definitely am scarred at how the dog dies. I cried my eyes out for a little while. My friend also said he was getting choked up, and he never does at movies - he didn't want his girlfriend to see lol |

Having seen 28 Weeks Later and 28 Days Later in the last 2 weeks...I was kinda bored during the movie. It was just another "uh oh a virus has turned everyone violent and there are a couple of people left fighting them off and trying to find a shelter in the countryside" movie. But it was entertaining. And a zombie movie is a zombie movie.
It was crowded and people kept laughing at really inappropriate parts...like when the dog dies, or when Will smith is going insane and shoots the mannequin... I didn't think that was supposed to be funny. The best things were the shots of deserted New York. Oh and the main zombie guy looked like Ed Begley Jr. |

The entire time I was trying to get the person he reminded me of and it was him. Thank you! That said, the movie reminded me of a mix between 28 Days Later and Castaway. |

\it's based on a book that predates 28 days later by at least a half century

this sounds disappointing. will smith is supposedly a big fan of the book but any science fiction now is compromised by the requirement to be a blockbuster, especially if the studio is paying a big star millions of dollars. nobody has mentioned this yet, but the first attempt at filming the book was the 70s movie "the omega man", with charlton heston.
28 days later was all hype, no substance. |

well, now that you have mentioned that, omega man was hardly anything like the original writer intended, so

i thought the movie was a solid B or B+, don't really have anything bad to say about it. and all zombie movies were basically ripped off from this book, so in reality everything is a rip off of i am legend

The reason for the title of the movie is like, totally opposite to the reason for the title of the book. I think the ending at least would've been a bit more satisfying if they stuck to the book.
I found it a little irritating how Will Smith was a Lieutenant, scientist, and one of the only people immune to the virus, whereas he's more of a normal person in the book, I don't know why they felt the need to push the audience's limits in their suspension of disbelief. |
