So today at work this cretin I have to coexist with just decided to get off the train at the stupid station I guess. He's a crazy Christian so I wasn't surprised when he started pulling out the evolution is a lie bullshit, but then he tells me he doesn't believe humans have ever sent anything into space. I was like what? I said we have pictures of the surfaces of other planets. We have photos taken from the orbit of planets billions of miles away.

He looks at me all incredulously and says, "Haven't you noticed how fake those pictures look? They look like a pixar movie."

Usually when he says stupid stuff I just try to ignore it but I don't truck with this bullshit about outer space, so I start pushing him to explain how he could possibly know what planets look like in real life. Then he pivots to, "How could all these countries work together to create the space station and all these satellites when we can't even solve our problems on Earth?" I was just like .....what..... So he elucidates, "No one can stop killing each other down here so how can you believe that all these countries could work together like this?"

He is an anomalous human being. We listen to NPR (in silence usually, thank fuck) while we work all day. Sometimes he hears something that works him up and he will just start talking at me. I don't really have to acknowledge that he is speaking for him to feel like we are having a conversation, so he just started talking about how absurd it seems to him that human beings "came from some little fish in the sea."

and like I said I can take his nonsense proselytizing and theological musings, but I get touchy when it comes to science. So I said that it doesn't seem ridiculous at all to me, to which he acted totally astounded, like he's never met someone who believes in evolution before. I pointed out that we can watch single cell organisms mutate under a microscope, and the idea is that we are the product of the same thing but over billions of years. He just did this thing he does when he thinks something is ridiculous but can't think of a rebuttal where he goes, "HA!"

So then we worked in silence a bit more and he says, "I believe humans were created just like we are now with Adam and Eve, except our brains were less evolved. Even today our brains continue to develop." at which point it stopped even being fun for me to bait him because his ignorance is too fucking sad
