i remember a band called the gowns opening for xiu xiu. it was one guy and one girl and it was enormously bad. even if they were okay why would this be your 'dream gig?' i mean out of all bands that have existed, pissed jeans? c'mon.
of course i could say something like r.e.m. in 83 or the velvet underground but i kept it to bands that are actually active. and those look like the ones whose shows i'd probably enjoy most, from what i've seen.

and gowns is probably my favourite currently active band. they're a girl and some guys but they're centered around the two songwriters you probably saw. their album is one of my favourite albums of the decade. and they have an awesome drummer now.

i would have loved to catch mogwai/the cure.

but as far as a dream gig, i don't even know where i would start. neil young and/or bowie would be near the top of my list, i guess. as far as people that are still kickin'.

i wanna see a gig headlined by Opeth.

where the support acts are ISIS, Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan and Mastodon. and Pig Destroyer play outside while you're lining up.

i actually bought 'antenna' after hearing 'anchor' on the radio back in '03. it was the first album i ever purchased. however, i never collected the rest of their albums due to the fact that i became increasingly infatuated with '90s alternative rock and forgot about modern music.

should i check out the rest of their albums?

antenna is probably the best, and the catchiest / melodic / hooky of their albums.

they have really diverse albums, their 1st 2 are hardcore metal, all screaming, no melody, almost like a completely different band.

i'd say listen to "jupiter" next.

it's my fav, it's like a slightly prog / experimental version of what antenna is. it came out right before antenna.
then listen to perfect pitch black, their most recent, that came out just after antenna. it's a mix of antenna and the old heavy stuff. some great songs, but not as good an album as jupiter or antenna IMO.

edit - actually i'm gonna put on jupiter now after talking about it so much.
