that's because Big Boy Bill saw us unfit to stream the album

as he did with Mary Star, Zeitgeist, and whatever other albums people loathed upon release but pretend to like now!

Exactly, even Billy wants to sweep those under the rug.

Is it avant garde when the guitars and synth sounds are intricately produced, but the drumbeat sounds like a lo-fi bedroom demo? And you have hooks that are sang off-key and chopped up with like... the opposite of hooks, which kill the momentum of the song and the listener’s patience? Like... if you’re gonna launch yourself as a solo artist with an album of 3minute pop songs, surely the ideas is to create songs people can remember? Why is the production and songwriting constantly getting in it’s own way? I just... don’t get this album, and I’m sorry it hurt Bill so much, but everything that went wrong afterwards started here.

TFE is a pretty cool album with some really good and some pretty bad songs, but overall it's interesting and worthwhile

occasionally interesting and relatively recent TFE thread

in which i stalk and harass brian leisgang(?) online and demand answers, resulting in his eventual acquiescence

also i can imagine few things douchier than using your masters in music to "objectively" determine that a Billy Corgan album is bad

and yet, i can't deny it is also hilarious

I think I only dislike All Things Change and specially I'm ready. I live Pretty Pretty Star and Camera Eye, which is very innovative and out of the box, and I wish Billy tried more of that.

I would say TFE was the last time Billy took any risks. And I respect him for trying new things more than for middle of the road albums.

as a whole, the album has interesting textures and a (to me) pleasingly stark aesthetic; unfortunately the songs are weak and it's just dead on arrival

Not exactly on topic, but Stephen Malkmus released his solo "drum machine/foray into electronics" album today and it absolutely spanks TFE. Another L for BiLLy.
