Question for Coldplay fans about Parachutes
This guy burned me Parachutes about a year ago. I just realized that the song called Parachutes on my CD is over 5 minutes long, whereas someone had mentioned to me that Parachutes was a 45 second song. So I googled the lyrics and discovered that some lyric sites have the 45 second song and others have lyrics to the song on my CD. Did this guy burn the wrong song onto my CD and these lyric sites somehow made the same mistake, or what? It definately is not Chris singing.

No Coldplay songs have a different singer. Parachutes, winamp says it's 0:46 and I ripped that off a legit CD so your song is wrong.

It turns out the song is Parachute by Guster. I have no idea why it didn't occur to me that it wasn't Coldplay before now. Even with the very different voice the song blended pretty nicely into the rest of the album.

Remember back in the days when it was cool for even indie kids too like Coldplay? I do man, Parachutes was a very well respected album among the hipster elite. In truth, I myself still feel unashamed to admit I like it. I really liked AROBTTH for a while, it does have some pretty good EMOTIONAL songs of which are musically cogent. It just doesn't really have much staying power I guess. I don't know, maybe all the backlash got to me. I still genuinely like Parachutes though.

I thought it was uncool to like Coldplay 'round these parts. Maybe that's only if it's me.

This place has changed alot over the years. Back in 2000 it was all the rage to talk about A Perfect Circle.

I used to like Coldplay. Not anymore. I stopped caring around 2003.
Parachutes is a good album, but everything falls apart after that. Their live show is pretty good, but I wouldn't go see them again. |

i never really got into the coldplay, i was going through a blues stage at the time, but i still think that shiver is a genuinely good song.

I didn't like a performance I saw of umm what was their single.. Talk. I saw them do Talk on the Juno awards and what I didn't like was how he would change up the way he was singing the words so he'd just speak one verse then sing one verse. Bugged me. But it's funny when he's twitching around running into the crowd. At the Junos in the middle of the song he grabbed this girl in the front row's camera phone and took a picture of himself and gave it back to her. Heh.

I once downloaded this mix someone had made online and it had a Guster song on it that I actually really like. So then I downloaded a full album the other day and it was the most atrocious shit i had heard in my life. man.
So anyway Guster sucks. |

I used to hate them, but they have grown on me a lot. I understand why a lot of people think they are boring pop music, but the atmospherics and emotions on a lot of their stuff is truely beautiful.

redbreequll... that's what I thought. It still holds true for Parachutes. I think Trouble is an amazing song. They kind of ran with that album's sound during A Rush of Blood to the Head. That's the tour I went to. They played some new songs that really had potential, but they canned them for the next studio album, X&Y -- which, to me, sounds totally recycled.

X & Y is definately their weakest album yet, but I thought there were a handful of mind blowingly sonically beautiful songs. The Hardest Part, A Message, and Swallowed in the Sea come to mind. And the bonus track at the end. I don't like Fix You particularly, but I think it reaches a real significant emotional zenith at the end that always gets me.
Listening to Coldplay makes me feel like I'm flying through the dark, miles above the earth. |

My favorite Coldplay songs are on X&Y. But I also like The Scientist, Warning Sign, Amsterdam, Clocks (before it got overplayed) I never got that into their first album but I know there are some good songs, Shiver, Trouble...
On X&Y my favorite songs are Fix You, Talk, A Message, Swallowed In The Sea I guess there are an equal # of great songs on their last two albums but I prefer the 'ok' songs on X&Y to the 'ok' songs on Rush of blabla That's all I have to say about that.

Yellow is my favorite. I know it's really overplayed and cliche at this point, but it still strikes me as such a lovely song. It makes me want to be in love.

I can't stand Yellow because I worked at this temp job in an office all by myself doing mindnumbing data entry all day and all I could listen to was the radio and they played Yellow every 45 minutes. So I can't listen to it even though I thought it was a good song before.
