Default Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - Legit, Scam, or Lazy?

A few people at my work are complaining of Carpal Tunnel... now, I've been typing (improperly) for 10 years, and I don't get any pain... That's not to say that I don't believe it is a problem for some people, but for THIS MANY?

A woman at work has been denied by Worker's Compensation for her Carpal Tunnel claim, as well as a few others....

I am starting to believe that this is something the GP is diagnosing where they shouldn't.. it should go to a nerve specialist or something...

what do you think?

I read about carpal tunnel syndrome in my bathroom reader, so it must be real.

i think that there are legitimate cases and i think there are also hypochondriac attention whores that will jump at any chance to have something to whine about.

I think that while in a lot of cases it may be legitimate, you can't just go from no pain at all to HORRIBLE SHOOTING DEBILITATING PAIN OMG. I mean, someone correct me if you know differently, but it seems to me there must be warning signs for this kind of thing.

i'm pretty sure i had the starting of it a while back. just a little bit of pain - i requested a better keyboard and it's all good now.

they're just hypochondriacs who want attention. i have a friend who's mom had surgery in both hands for it - so i'm not discounting it's reality, but it takes a while to set in and you can do things to correct it before it gets bad enough to do any claim filing or anything.

I know a Mormon who has it so it must be a fraud, they're susceptible to those kind of things.

A lot of people who whine that they have it actually have tendonitis. It's really easy to prevent if your keyboard and mouse are at the right height. It shouldn't be too surprising that so many people have it since so many of us use poorly placed keyboards, and lots of us having been doing it for years.

What is the right height? I'm pretty sure my stuff is at the wrong height cause I get sore forearms and wrists sometimes. From typing.

I found a review

Quote:
My oriental carpet mouse pad was getting old when an ad at Something Awful grabbed my attention. It was about mouse pads. Not just ordinary mouse pads, though; mouse pads with tits. The idea is this: the mouse pad is printed with the portrait of a beautiful anime-style woman and where her breasts would be there are mounds, breasts if you will. These are gel pads to ergonomically support your wrist, of course.

Sounds like an awesome idea but is it worth the dollars they ask for it? I would say yes. The quality of the mouse pad is very good. The surface works perfect for optical and old ball mice as well as with your eyes. It has a rubber backside that keeps it at a fixed spot on every table. The gel pads are of good quality, they just feel nice…

Ergonomically, the mouse pad is very good too. I felt the difference after some days of use. It really does everything a mouse pad should do and that’s at a good price. I can not really comment on durability but I am pretty sure it will last for some months. If it ever gets old you can try one of the other motifs.

When I sit down in front of my computer I always sit down with a smile. This mouse pad really enhances your PC experience. Order one now! That is if there is no danger of a woman ever coming into your room and you are not homosexual. Check it out at chestrest.com.

Pros: Tits!; great quality; ergonomic
Cons: Not for everyone
Overall: Recommended

If you're getting pain in your forearms and wrists, your keyboard and mouse are not the right height for you. It's different for each person because of the height and the length of your arms, but here's some pretty simple tips in order to prevent injury and have years of happy boarding and looking at porn on the INTRAWEB. It's super easy to prevent strain if you're on the computer a lot, and worth it in the long run.
