So I'm seeing The National tonight
They're one of my favorite bands, I'm pretty excited. I've got tickets to see them tomorrow night as well. Anyone here seen them before?

The show was beyond excellent. I'm really glad I'm seeing them again tomorrow, I'd be kicking myself if I hadn't gotten the ticket. I ended up getting Alligator on vinyl too, am rocking out to it currently.

Yeah, I really wanted to see that show last year but it was a bit of a drive for me. The National are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. They were excellent both nights.

Alligator is probably their best. Think Boxer but more of a straight up rock record. Their self titled is also excellent but a very different sound, more country/folk influenced. Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers is pretty mediocre as a record but has some good moments. Both of their EPs have some great stuff on them too if you get around to them. I would recommend them over Sad Songs personally.
Definitely pick up Alligator next. |

what other EP besides Cherry Tree is there?
ed: oh the Virginia EP duh. yeah those are both fucking great. the self-titled one is good enough but it could have been made by pretty much any alt-country band. Sad Songs is uneven but it shows hints of the genius that would be Alligator and Boxer. Last edited by neopryn : 05-27-2009 at 01:03 PM. |
