thanks. but i just found out that it's almost impossible to get certified for a radiologist with felonies. there are still some states that don't require certification, but that may change.

you'd think the bourgeois son of professors would know what med school is and isn't.

had a bitch of a time finishing, printing, and turning in an essay last couple days
I ran out of money at just the wrong time, found myself scrounging quarters to pay for printing always wait until the last minute |

Then we peer reviewed which was awkward because I felt like these papers were really bad
Just terrible And that means either I take a lot more pride in what I sweated over or my paper too is trash |

I finally started playing Magic: The Gathering again, after 20 years.
The marketing is really confusing and the game has evolved, but once you crack those codes it's actually easier (and cheaper) to immediately begin playing now than it was decades ago. |

highest grade in the class on my first paper back in school
an A the median score was a 68%, so I was right that the papers I peer reviewed were shit I feel vindicated, and that I've made the right choice |

I don't have to be smart to be top of class, just smarter than these dumb motherfuckers
professor notes: "this is a well written paper, careful not to resort to name calling" the use of the word "barbaric" cost me 5 points |

I can't imagine using the term "barbaric" in that context without it betraying an academic tone.
I generally try to use as little emotive or value-laden language as possible. Also, very little figurative speech or rhetoric. I kind of subscribe to the Orwell position of making writing as simple, clear, and transparent as possible. I also resist the kind of academic jargon that's become de rigueur in some fields, that seem to be more about signalling the writer's membership in the club than actually conveying any real information. I want to hurl every time I see phrases like "negotiating discourses" in a sociology text. |

I think that's part of why I've really enjoyed writing styles in analytic philosophy, and have adapted a similar style regardless of what course I'm submitting a paper for. Analytic philosophers tend to be light on jargon, and every time they introduce new jargon for the sake of expediency, they define what the fuck they're talking about before they go on to use it.
Despite liking social sciences, a lot of the writing in it seems to be guilty of falling on buzzwords without a clear sense of what is meant. And then continental philosophy is just rife with this, with people making up complex terms without once explaining what they are supposed to mean. "Oh look, I'm Heidegger, I'm writing an entire book on Dasein while being extremely vague about what that even means; pat me on the back for how smart and hard to understand I am." |

fair enough but it was a pathos argument in the context I used it
it was meant to be emotional, the paper asked for (1) appeal to emotion argument I'm not crying over 5 points |

my work is having a luncheon next month and frikkin silver sponsorship (a table for 10 and your name on shit) is $25,000! that's not even the highest...i think a title sponsorship is 95K.
it kills me that for what one dude pays for a table of 10 for one afternoon i could finish paying for college. |
