Default Jimmy claiming he's delighted with Cyr and the direction was a mutual decision

“Billy started sending me sketches of stuff he was thinking about, and we started talking about the drum sound,” Chamberlin said, with reference to influence from “early-seventies prog-rock bands, that type of tight dry drum sound, which I was into.”
Wtf. This is in response to Cyr, in which (from what we've heard and the reviews doing the rounds) Jimmy just played a Roland v-kit throughout.

Also interesting they talk about the Mellon Collie/Machina follow up and him hitting the studio in March to begin tracking drums for it... what about Shiny Vol. 3?

We have to cut Jimmy some slack. Dude has been on some new age brainwashed kick for a while. He doesn’t know what he’s saying.

“I think he was more nervous than me, and I was like ‘go for it dude’. I got asked earlier what songs I like to play live and I said ‘f*ck, I like to play those Tommy Lee songs so I can pretend I’m Tommy Lee like I did when I was eight or nine’, so I’m still a fan whether I’m in or not.”
If JC was pretending to be TL at ages 8 or 9 then that would have made TL 10 or 11... in the 70's.

I listened to both nights of the 2008 20th Anniv Massey Hall shows this week, they were incredible! Jimmy played with so much power and aggression and speed! Everything was super fast, Heavy Metal Machine was especially aggressive, and then seguing into Glass' Theme, insane!

And fast forward to him rejoining post Byrne/Lee/Wilk... now his tempo's are rock solid and more grounded in original album tempo's instead of pushing them live, more controlled in his approach. Truly an end of an era.

What else was Jimmy going to say? "Oh, yeah, man, this album totally blows. Don't waste your time, just listen to Siamese Dream."

Who knows, maybe jimmy likes it. It’s ok if ppl like it, while it’s hard for me to comprehend, i am willing to concede i am not personally the final arbiter of what is good and what is not

Would be interesting to hear this record without vocals. Somebody on here who’s apparently been brave enough to listen to this stuff multiple times said there was layers. Layers was the main thing missing from the last one imo

i'm all for criticizing the music if you don't like it, but implying that JC is not being genuine with how into it he is on current SP is just a lame projection. you're making a narrative in your head that helps you understand why you hate the new music. i've never seen jimmy be dishonest about anything (and no his past addiction doesn't count, that was classic addict denial so don't go there).

leave Jimmy alone!!

Isn’t the thread title just paraphrasing what Jimmy said?

regardless of the crap JC says there while keeping a straight face,

this is the most poorly written article I've seen in ages. they keep interjections like "right?" and "well i mean" in the quotes like it's the highschool newspaper, lol.

Quote:
“I have a studio and Corgan has a studio, and we’re kind of neighbours – we live pretty close to each other. So we’ve got all this time right in quarantine and there’s nothing else to do so we’ve just wanted to try to maximise our time.”
