Default Post Ur Phobia

(i fear someone might of done this one before)

My phobia is of deep water and sharks, crocodiles, piranhas, etc. I attribute this mainly to Sir Murillio, my teacher from grades 5-8 (just met him and he was as kind as ever). he grew up super poor on the islands around mindanao (the wild part of the philippines) and his family were fishermen. he would tell us stories of overloaded ferries sinking and the sharks having feasts. later fishermen would find watches bracelets rings all kinds of shit in the sharks bellies. and he would tell us tales of sharks coming up by the little dugout canoes the fishermen use and snatching limbs and shit.

now i panic in the deep part of pools. thank you, sir murillio.

I grew up terrified of big foot. When I was a kid I loved watching the 6 million dollar man, which had an episode where Steve Austin had to fight big foot. After that I was constantly affraid that I would killed by a Bigfoot. I nolonger fear Bigfoot but it was a real problem for me until I was about 14. At that point I kind of knew better.

I used to be afraid of bees, but not so much anymore.

I dunno, I'm struggling to think of something I would classify as a "phobia."

I'm afraid of going broke and not having a financial safety net. Does that count?

i ought to be afraid of bees. When i was 7 I inadvertently tore open a bee hive that was inside of a pile of old lumber in our back yard. i was stung hundreds of times. it was horrifying and i almost died.

it never translated into bee phobia. strange. and today when i'm stung it barely affects me. a bee sting will hurt a little, then a few hours later its like it never happened. kind of like mosquitoes. When i get a mosquito bite it barely even makes a bump on me, and the itchy side effects disappear quickly, without a couple of hours

I too fear the murky deeps. Whenever I've been in the ocean and can't see the bottom, I've worried something large smells me, and is rising even now to chomp off my dog n balls

I'm a little less scared of sharks now, after a cage dive I did with great whites. They weren't as terrrible as I feared, more like curious/beautiful

Bees are not scary if they were indeed bees and not something else

I don't know if it was a "phobia" but I used to scare the shit out of myself with my overactive imagination as a kid, and Bigfoot looking in my window while I slept was a regular nightmarish fantasy

also freaked out by deep water, or really any water where you can't see the bottom. I will swim in large bodies of water and just turn off the cognition of the fear, but yeah. It's not even specifically sharks or something (although I have seen sharks in the ocean so I know they really are always there), but more the vague concept of the physical depths and the unknown worlds down there. Lake Ontario is empty except for some fish, but that mother is SEVEN HUNDRED FEET DEEP and I can't get near it without remembering that. My friend who is a bit of a conspiracy/unexplained phenomena buff told me about unidentified submerged objects once, and that freaked me out too. He claimed there have been detections of large objects moving deep underwater faster than the speed of sound.

but yeah when I think about the physical openness of the ocean depths, that in itself bothers me. It's like a vertigo feeling almost. I get the same thing imagining floating through space, or sometimes even if I am at a high, open place like the top of a building or something. I have tried to look up fear of open spaces, but this is technically agoraphobia, which is NOT what I mean. I guess I am the only one

Flying, open casket funerals..
But the worst would have to be an open casket funeral inside a mid-air flight.

I have fear of heights, really intense vertigo and this weird feeling that if I lose control for like a second I can just fall and it's terrifying.

I am afraid of the dark, I know how dumb that sounds, but I can't be in total pitch black dark I start feeling really restless and anxious.

Not a fan of insects, snakes or spiders, but that's not phobia just common sense.
