Default Can "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope" ever rank as a decent SP album?

i edited together all the songs that dont make me nauseous and i think i may have something.

the compilation opens with quasar and astral planes, to get the juices flowing. the lysergic cult is meeting up in someone's basement! stay in the blissful aquarian 90s for a song or two. then the hits keep coming, from your favorite power pop group Elk Grove Village ever produced. Yes, the solo in Song for a Son is one of Corgan's best. Diggin the 70s country flavor in the back half. Stevie Nicks winks on. Then a nicely rejiggered Hummer cover followed by the least offensive ukelele song this guy ever played.

look, the fact is, the old smashing pumpkins is equally dorky to the new stuff. youre all dorks. you all fucking suck.

01 Quasar
02 Astral Planes
03 Freak
04 Panopticon
05 The Celestials
06 Monuments
07 A Stitch In Time
08 Violet Rays
09 A Song for a Son
10 Drum and Fife
11 Pale Horse
12 Tiberius
13 Pinwheels
14 Inkless
15 Cottonwood Symphony

suck my fat one, fucktards

hey why don't you start your own band and then you can release all your songs in the order you like

if you're not a real fan, then why are you even here?

lol

to answer your original question: take live versions of A Song for a Son, Owata, One and All, and Drum and Fife with Jimmy C and put them on an EP with Pinwheels

semi-decent release right there

i mean it'd still be the worst but it'd be a more respectable last

Starting with "Quasar" and "Astral Planes" does not bode well.

these are the only ones I can stand to listen to
and no order of them would make a good album.

If I chose one song off of each "section" of Teargarden it would be...

-Lightning Strikes
-Inkless
-Tiberius

None of these songs are absolutely perfect, but are the style and quality of songs I would have expected Billy to write under the Smashing Pumpkins name when he announced he was using it again in 2005.

ok i'm won over on Tom Tom. it's a good bridge between violet rays and song for a son, establishing that 70s classic rock feel.

cutting panopticon for now. that song used to do a lot for me but i've realized the melody is really lacking...

Lightning Strikes is great but pretty similar to a lot of TbK songs in terms of tone. Unfortunate that Billy keeps writing pop single type songs and has apparently completely abandoned epic compositions after 2008.

It's not really an album and it never was finished so I don't think so.

This nonsense about Oceania and Monuments being albums in the "Teargarden cycle" is crap. Teargarden was abandoned. When journalists and bloggers mention that to him in interviews they're misinformed and I think Billiam sees it as a convenient excuse to not discuss abandoning a project.

BC actively pushed that MTAE is part of it. I think the next album will be 10-12 tracks so that it'll all add up to 44 and he will claim it was all the grand plan of getting back to something.

no, basically. The better half of Oceania and a smattering of the best other songs might make something as good as TheFutureEmbrace.

that was bait on some level.

i do really like the psychedelic side of the new SP, it just doesnt reconcile well with corgan's drive to make everything a squeaky clean single.

I don't get the Quasar hate. If the drummer didn't suck and the vocals/lyrics weren't unbelievably stupid, it would be a real thrasher.

But not every song would be good w/o sucky parts. Quasar does have a good foundation.

This

Teargarden to me ends with EP #2, or perhaps Owata. The concept was to release songs for free and then package the songs in an elaborate way for purchase. He officially jumped ship when he decided to release Oceania

It's funny that this has clearly been the case since 2011 or so and yet fans still ignorantly cling to the idea that the Teargarden project is still alive and well.

Billy directly avoided the question when being interviewed by Howard Stern earlier this year.
