I just assume Jimmy’s drumming on SAOSB 1 and Cyr is trash and uninspired because that’s also the quality of the songs Billy gave him. Jimmy can probably only tell Billy so many times that “we should go in a different direction” with a song before he risks saying “Yo, actually, do you even need me here? We can just program what you’re looking for with drum machines and Pro Tools.”

He probably just shut up about it all, played what Billy wanted, and mentally moved on to the next album.
