heard that. the tough part about evacuating from south florida is that there are few ways to get out, and you're at least 6-8 hours from the state line in any case (with normal traffic). hope it doesn't get too bad. i never evacuated for a 'cane in the 16 years i lived in south florida but i was also never ordered to.

Oh and on a serious note. It's too late to evacuate IMO. Roads up here are stop and go and gas is getting hard to come by. I'm really not sure how many people can make it out before Sunday.

right now the forecast has it hitting my town directly or nearly directly. im sorta scared tbh. that spaghetti model in the middle of that picture sorta by itself and skirting the coast would be the worst case for me. but anywhere close to the east coast has me in hurricane winds territory

i know right? pompano stores are closed but at the next town over (deerfield) we're open until noon. it's fucking ridiculous. i let management know that and i message their facebook account. not that it will do anything but it's not fair

I'm inland but this one still has me a bit freaked out. We have our shutters though which take about 15 minutes to secure the house. Also got my generators repaired last week and I always keep food on hand. as of right now we are ready, just need to pick up a few items outside and then hang the shutters on Saturday.

At some point, they have to just close the roads and tell people to go home. I can't imagine people from south Florida who have not left already will make it anywhere. I drove over the Turnpike before and it's just a parking lot. It's like something out of a movie.

Yeah Saint Cloud, just SE of Orlando. New projection shows it coming up the center of the state again and they eye is coming towards but should be better for you.

well i hope it completely misses both of us. if it actually lands in the center or east of the peninsula we are both fucked. i mean that in regards to losing power and having moderate damages to businesses etc. not looking forward to no power for 2+ weeks like wilma. if we get hit directly my apartment could actually get destroyed, the building is from the 50s (it's just a house with an attached apartment)

at least the weather is usually super nice after a hurricane passes by. always nice, clear, and cool.

good luck y'all. when i left miami after hurricane katrina i couldn't find gas until i got to about jupiter or vero beach. then i had to wait for nearly two hours at the turnpike rest stop in line.
