vintage violence is better than the live 1969 VU album

The playing on it is great. I don't know what you mean about diarrhea guitar tone. I've not heard that adjective used to describe guitar sounds but it sound like straight up 70's rock guitar tone to me.

Right so terrible

Actually, in most cases where you can say that's a very "X" decade guitar tone you know you're dealing with something def dated and probably uninspired

When I say 70s guitar tone I'm referring to things like led zep so yeah completely uninspired and dated shit.

I mean not necessarily I'm just not trying to single out the 70's as much as I'm saying the guitar playing on Reed live albums is incredibly cliche as opposed to the same song under VU where it's not a 60's tone it's a VU tone

I'm sorry Lou let you down. I'm sure he'll try to make it up to you on the next live album. We've talked to him about the shitty live tone but he hasn't changed it back to the old VU heroin nodding out of tune/time guitar tone.

There's soo much just straight self indulgent wankery the type of stuff young Reed would shit on

It's almost like the guy lost a bet and had to let him play on the next album

It's not like he was incapable of collaborating with a more inspired guitarist, Blue Mask is solid in that respect

And I much prefer the big band backed tracks on Transformer and such to phoned in guitar playing

A lot of musicians change as they get older. If you want someone to stay the same forever then you should get into AC/DC or Pantera or something.

But that particular live album is garbage and not anything I'd push
