Awesome. Stoked to grab that!

I'm hitting 3/4 of the LA shows - and maybe the fourth if the setlist ends up being another whole new deck on night three - and would be more than happy to record. But, I don't have any of the gear.

Is this stuff to record shows still super expensive, or has the demand/cost fallen to where it's affordable now?

Or - does anybody trust a stranger enough (a responsible one, though) to mail it to me so I can get some recordings of these things in the bank for the world? Hoping that these shows will be winners, and since it's a four run stand, I bet we'll see most/all of what he's been practicing.

assuming you mean audio gear only, right? which row are you in, LA 9th.
and how savvy are you, if I may ask. like will the mixer come back okay or are you a beginner

because I plan to sit on my ass and not move a finger, let alone gear

Less than $500 for a set of concert taping stealth gear which is recorder + external mics.

It's nice to have nice gear, but don't spend any more money than you want to spend...

Sony and Tascam make some pretty good recorders with built-in mics:
https://www.amazon.com/Sony-PCM-M10-...dp/B002QUYP2G/
https://www.amazon.com/Tascam-Stereo...dp/B004OU2IQG/

Zoom makes some recorders but I'm not very familiar with them:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003QKBVYK...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

You can use a smartphone...just check your battery and storage space. Try to find a nice app...record in WAV format...try recording in stereo as opposed to mono which might be default or all you can do depending on your phone/app.

Yeah, audio only. I'm in LA for Th-Fr-Sat and maybe Sunday. It's GA all of the nights, so no real seats out there.

Total beginner. Zero taping experience.

I see, a full toy bag similar to this is a bit too much to start with then
https://scontent-vie1-1.cdninstagram...29273600_n.jpg

to use a smartphone for starters is not a bad idea then, I think.

dang I haven't seen the tickets yet, are you saying I CANNOT SIT ON MY ASS ON SOME NICE CHAIR???

I used to use a Zoom H1 to record audio for my videos. It's definitely better than the camera/phone mics, and you won't get any distortion if you set the levels correctly. But still, the internal mics don't sound great.

Later on, I bought Church Audio CA-11 (cards) mics + one of their older pre-amps, and I couldn't be happier. Paid around £100 second-hand. I run them into the Zoom H1, which sounds just fine, but there are better options when it comes to noise floor. I only use the Zoom H1 because I already had it, and it does the job.

Here's something I recorded with the CA-11:

But the most important thing is positioning! You will get a bad recording no matter how good your gear is if you don't position it properly.

I did not record any of these, I'm only putting them out there. It's my impression that a few people compiled their recordings into one compilation. Some of this is available on the LMA and some of it is not. Select info from the text file that comes with the set...

I was at all four LA shows - and haven't found a recording of night two yet. The other three are there on LMA. Looks like this set has all of night two, but that link is giving me grief. When I click, it doesn't open the .zip - when I right click save as, it downloads a zip file that won't open. What am I failing at?
