Thumbs up Portishead - Third

man, this album is SO GOOD on first listen i had to create a thread. i'm not one to jump the gun before things absorb, but srsly, this record is great.

they're definitely redefining themselves as more than just trip hop. this album is on par with what i was expecting to hear on In Rainbows, more so than what I was expecting to hear on a Portishead album.

man, its good.....i mean really, really good.

HA!

you know, it's a good thing that this board essentially moves like an instant messenger conversation, otherwise i would probably want to slit my wrists out of sheer boredom on a day like this.

shut up, really?? her voice makes me melt. joe was talking about it the whole car ride home.

they should either cover Wandering Star or Sour Times.

Yeah her voice is pretty awesome. Did Joe add them to his myspace? I checked cuz I wanted to add him as well, but I didn't recognize any that were him.

Also, the St. Patty's Day show is tenative now. It's possible they've moved it to the 24th (they being the idiots over at Subterranean). I'll keep you updated. We don't know what the hell is going on right now.

sub-t is so weird.... my roommate was part of a "lit magazine" launch party there, and they were all very weird about it.

well, let me know! joe might not have added them yet because he was getting ready to leave for new york. i'm not sure when he'll be back, but add him through mine!

YES! it's time to go. i'm outta here, talk to ya later.

So for those that used the link in the megathread- does everyone else's track 1 cut out at the 5 minute mark and go silent for 6 more seconds?

AHA! I was trying to find him on your friends list and I saw someone that looked like him but it was hard to tell and it said "currenly in NY" and I was confused. I also didn't want to just add some random person off your list I didn't know lol

Have a good weekend! Talk to you later.

http://www.mediafire.com/?nm5d3imz0zd

sort of reminds me of the way blonde redhead re-invented themselves for 'melody of certain damaged lemons' - they sound completely fresh again. a couple of tracks w/ banjos, or maybe that's a mandolin or ukelele on 'deep water'. either way, they work well in the mix. 'we carry on' sounds a bit like clinic w/ beth gibbons singing. the ending of 'silence' is sorta shocking on first listen, yet was completely perfect, esp when the song title is considered.

The quality of that leak is utter crap - I can't wait to finally hold the album in my hands.

And yeah, it's really 'really really' good.
