Default Koi No Yokan deserves its own thread

I've always said that if the Deftones could put together a very consistent beginning to end album, it would be fucking incredible.

They've done it. No filler. No good songs. All great songs. I'm really astonished. Never thought they'd top White Pony, but I think they just did.

Equal parts face melting and ethereal beautiful shit. I'm so so so so into this.

What does everyone else think?

An immediate classic. One of the best albums ever made. Entombed is just...incredible.

It's insane.

A song like Romantic Dreams

Seems like standard Deftones fare, but then at 1:15 they just fucking crush it and you realize this is a special album.

I wouldn't say that. While I generally like every song on every album, I recognize why someone might think, say, pins and needles, for example, is a clunker (to reiterate, I like it). I can't say that about any song on here.

Or are you referring to the fact I didn't flip out over the nu metal tag? In that case, w/e. I hate genre labels.

Part of me was convincing myself that I could wait until Christmas to give some family member an easy-to-get-me gift, but after seeing these posts, I'm not so sure.

Love Deftones - was funny how much Diamond Eyes caught me off guard how much I'd like it after me being pretty apathetic towards Saturday Night Wrist.

yeah absolutely loving it, probably in my top 3 from them along with white pony and snw. leathers and tempest were really promising signs but i wasn't really expecting such a consistent and cohesive album. rosemary just blows me away every time.

If you didn't like Diamond Eyes, you're wrong. Especially because it was their best. And not that different from their past.

gave it a listen. there were a few points where i thought "this sounds real good", but my mind was not blown by the album as a whole. i think this kind of music doesn't really do it for me these days

i'll probably listen 1 or 2 more times after a while and see if my impression changes

Like I said in the other thread, best album I've heard all year thus far. One of their best, hands down. Poltergeist, Entombed and Rosemary are fucking EPIC.

Entombed is far better than the songs on Diamond Eyes that are similar to it like Beauty School and Sextape.

Very good album. For me Around The Fur is still their absolute best. I think that S/T, Saturday Night Wrist, Diamond Eyes, and the new one are all about equal. The new one is solid but workmanlike. It doesn't really break any barriers that the past three albums had touched upon.

Self Titled is horrible at times. An all time low for them.
