Default Bands you used to like but now realize suck

This is a list of those bands growing up that you thought were cool, and liked, but revisit and realize that they're bland or generic...

-Stone Temple Pilots: I still like some of the singles (creep, ILS, Trippin), but I revisited some of their albums awhile back and man... There's not really much there apart from the singles, and even a lot of those haven't aged too well... Definitely see why so many purists despised these guys back in the day.

-Everclear: I used to love the "So Much For the Afterglow" album, no idea why today.

-Lit: Still dig My Own Worst enemy, but I used to love that album too... Would sit around listening to it with friends while playing NHL on Playstation... Today I listen to it and it's cringeworthy shit.

-No Doubt: I used to love this band. Saw em live at a small theater when Just A Girl was their only hit. I was in love with Gwen Stefani... And well, we all know what happened with No Doubt and her... I listen back and songs like Don't Speak really suck. Spiderwebs is still pretty cool though.

-Sum 41: I loved the album with Fat Lip. Fat Lips still cool, but the bands a one trick pony... Not much to really like there.

Korn used to be my favorite band from 14 to 18. Now, I can't even bring myself to spin their stuff even out of nostalgia. I couldn't possibly feel any more distance from an old favorite than I do with that band. There is just literally nothing there for me anymore. I listen to their music and it sounds like diarrhea farts with some manchild whining over the top.

Green Day and a bunch of other pop punk bands

I saw Good Charlotte live in 2002? I think? But they were never my thing, I was chaperoning my sister who was about 11 I guess. Her and her friend dressed me up as a "punk" for the show

Lol I was gonna list them, but I still understand the appeal and can't quite say they suck. One of my best friends is still a HUGE fan. But yeah, I have literally no nostalgic appreciation for em. The old music does nothing for me anymore.

Besides maybe Beg For Me. That's still a good jam. Seeds kinda dope too.

I used to have this Life Is Peachy t-shirt where the Korn logo was in giant letters on the front of the shirt in that sparkly silver stuff that's on the ZERO shirt haha. No wonder I was such a loser in those first couple years of high school

Yeah, came in to post Korn. There's probably a few tracks I'd still consider good from the first four albums - Blind comes to mind - but I can't be assed to really go back and revisit them.

I came to realize Sneaker Pimps had absolutely nothing apart from Sixx Underground, too.

I like Green Day's late 80s and stuff all the way through to 2000 (like some other band I can think of) but then they turned terrible. No shame for me. AND I probably would have killed you and/or your sister to go to that concert back in like 2002.

I saw Bowling for Soup with a friend in middle school cuz it was her birthday and that's what she wanted to do, and bought me the ticket. SO BAD.

I might steal this quote and make it my new location.

I listened to Play Me w/ Nas the other day, and the D.O.S.E Woolleyback remix of Got The Life. Otherwise...yeah. Different time, different person.

I am also sincerely repulsed by my end of HS/freshman in college taste in music, a la Bring Me The Horizon, Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, Saosin, Symphony In Peril, In Fear and Faith, Blessthefall, Every Time I Die, All Shall Perish, The Agonist, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Mindless Self Indulgence, Oh Sleeper, As Cities Burn, and MANY MANY fucking more. All that post-hardcore/metalcore/xXx whatever bullshit. Sad thing is most of my concerts were seeing bands like these, since there were frequent HUGE label tours back about 10 years ago and since I was like 18-19 I was at prime concert attending age in terms of free time and energy. My boyfriend was 26-27 at that time so I could also drink and have him pay for tickets. Only positive about that time was I always had bad ass hair.

bands i liked from middle school to high school that i don't routinely listen to any more at the very worst amuse me - and sometimes pleasantly surprise me w/ songs i'd either forgotten about or never realized how good they actually were

Shit, them are some deep cuts.

I had a whole slew of those import CD singles I paid like $20 each for at Sam Goody. Pretty much every single from Korn's first four albums. For fuck's sake.

I have no idea why, but I thought I was reading a post by Disco King until about 2/3 of the way through.

That's not a sarcastic knock on the length of your post or whatev, my brain is just fried and I found it amusing after the fact. Just thought I'd share.

I went through a Ben Folds Five phase briefly. When "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner " came out I just couldn't even pretend to like it.

Purchased it and listened to it a lot and just hated it. Over and over again.
