Nicole because she's not Mike and unlike Jeff you can hear that it's her on the new songs and not someone trying to play like billy.

also, her non SP work is good.

He's the most persistent Member in SP2. I think he does the SP1 stuff justice. He's technically proficient while also being reasonably musical. Somehow manages to stay on Billy's good side.

I liked Tulin a lot and was pretty bummed out when he died in 2011. I would love to hear the stuff he recorded with Billy and Kerry in 2009.

What did Mark Tulin do except play bass on that one gig for record store day?

He played bass on the first Teargarden EP as well as all of the demos recorded prior to that. In terms of gigs, he also played on Leno when they did "Widow Wake My Mind."

He played in Spirits in the Sky and The Backwards Clock Society which people seemed to like more than any of the songs Billy has released since 2007.

Ginger. She was hot... Not a very good reason but it just goes to show how little the new guys have to offer.

She also contributed to a badass rhythm section... Though that's mostly due to Jimmy, it still sounded great.

I love this performance. I've probably watched/listened to it more than any other SP 2 item.

I love how Corgan goes off on the little melodic solo/groove thing at the end with Jimmy.

Corgan really seemed to hit all the right notes on his little improv solos. The solo's from their version of Shame during this era killed too. It's a shame he can't seem to successfully translate any of that spontaneity onto his records anymore.

It was that kind of awesomeness that put tracks like Soma over the top.

She was in the line up longer than that wasn't she?

If not, she was still my favorite, regardless of how long her tenure in the band was.

Tulins an option and he was never even an official member... Unless your counting that Leno performance with the off-key Mormons.

the official reason is because she got knocked up. but she could've just been like fuck this

i think the first lineup was always meant to be disposable (with the exception of jimmy) and jeff is kind of an anamoly

Ginger was my favorite.

I remember getting right near the stage when I saw them headline the Virgin Festival right at the start of the reunion. We yelled her name, she looked, I came.

i bet ginger has lovely upper middle class dinner parties where she bashfully says that she was the bassist for the smashing pumpkins for a little bit, but nobody believes her. You? Wasn't it that skinny weird girl and she just laughs and drinks wine and enjoys her perfect bourgeois lifestyle

i bet it's so charming and lovely

Actually they wanted to replace Billy in the beginning. Billy, James and D'arcy were more on the same wave length and liked the same music and dressed the same. But jimmy was just too good so they kept him. Then billy realized he needed jimmy so he had someone on his side to deal with James and Darcy. However, Billy wasn't always happy with jimmy beyond the actual work. Jimmy was always off doing drugs and causing trouble but billy needed him.

Jimmy was better than Billy. Because of Jimmy they could play rock music. But they didn't think he was the dude in the beginning, they didn't like him cause he had a mullet.
