i will admit, i was talking to my therapist once about some woman i liked and had found out was an apparent racist ("just don't commit crimes and you won't die in policy custody! lol!" like after sandra bland died) and my therapist was like do you really want to date someone who you have to wonder if they will ever call your black friends niggers

Yeah, that's actually a good point. I guess us non-blacks get desensitized by racial matters, and hearing the word kinda acts like a kick in the pants.

when i moved to louisiana with my ex, i don't think i'd ever heard someone use the n-word. like, besides on TV or like learning about civil rights in school. then i went there and a TON of very racist people used it openly, proudly. it floored me, truly. it's a very powerful and ugly word and i will never forget how that felt. and then imagine being called that, i just fucking heard it
