personally i don't listen to a lot of bands or even music with lyrics for that matter. his singing style seems to compliment the music in the complete opposite way of most of their contemporaries. either the vocals are dreamier to match the music or the music is heavier to compliment the vocals. it's a nice dynamic and the lyrics seem to reflect that - a need to belong and trying to fit in somewhere or with something. it's also about the solidarity of loneliness. the band reminds me of a pack of wolves.

also - marketing scheme or not - i enjoy their aesthetic as a collective conscious/movement as opposed to just "a band"

I love this song and video. He'll be in Boston in March =)

Tool is coming here Jan. 28th. It will be the first time I have seen them indoors which will be strange.. I really want to go but I have nobody to go with... Nobody to go to Gotye with either.. My music taste is kind of all over the place I guess and it's hard to find people to go to shows with. I used to be able to talk my best friend into seeing things with me but she moved to Australia two weeks ago Tool she wouldn't enjoy though anyway so I'm SOL

Who cares if you have no one to go with. I never understand why people feel they can only do something if they can find someone else to go with them.

i came into this thread to post that i was pissed that i missed it. i just totally forgot about it. it was at a tiny restaurant type place, so it might have been pretty awkward going alone.

i never really listened to sun kill moon, or red house painters very much, but since not too many venture out here i try and check out who i can.

i guess i once made an adult video with sun kill moon playing in the background so i should have gone for the sake of nostalgia. i might have gotten an inappropriate pavlovian boner, though.

Possibly the Frankenstein Brothers on March 20th though I don't know yet. Actually got a pretty nice week planned there but I don't know if I'll make this show... don't know if I'll have enough time.

Saw Shearwater and Sharon Van Etten last night. I still find them really boring but her set was worth sitting through them. All I have coming up is WILD FLAG (again), M83, and that Portlandia tour. Have any of you people seen the Magnetic Fields live? Is it worth paying like $35 to see them in a GA venue?

Yeah, I thought they might sway me live but I was pretty bored. Some dude next to me was raving about them and they just do nothing for me.

M83 isn't coming here until May, so I got nothing for you. I am actually thinking of selling my tickets to a friend because I need money for Bonnaroo. I hope I don't end up having to though. How were they?

I lucked out and my sister got tickets to see Radiohead 6/13 in shitty Camden. Other than that, just WILD FLAG (again), M. Ward, and Sharon Van Etten (again). Trying to restrain myself.
