Sorry, I'm not really interested in making threads or finding solutions to hypothetical examples that may or may not occur in the future due to passed laws that have not even become law yet. I'll let you and Scotty and the other guys circle jerk those issues.

I tend to focus on finding solutions to major problems that have already occurred and are still occurring in places where residents are made up almost entirely of black people and\or other minorities. Like Detroit's bankruptcy and the $18 billion hole that it finds itself in. I wish people would focus more on that instead of worrying about how to get rid of all the Indiana-made corn and ketchup products in their cupboard.

when religious freedom advocacy leads to this (same state)

http://www.wncn.com/story/28664509/f...illing-a-fetus

makes it hard to put energy in getting outraged over gays being denied a wedding cake from some dumb business IMHO.

some info here on Indiana's extreme gerrymandering, which is helping to drive these pro bigot laws

https://ista-in.org/study-finds-indi...gerrymandering

Dems got 43% of the votes in the 2012 Indiana House elections, but received only 31% of the seats.

you decry privacy for one of them, but not the rest.

pretty cheeky coming from a shilled out DNC knuckledragger.

the point is that Hillary did all her emailing through a personal home personal server (which has now come to light it was cleaned and erased). Whatever emailing she did regarding her Sec Def work was supposed to be on a .gov email, not her own.

To conflate that issue with the Neo-Con crew (same one she's completely in bed with, btw) that hadn't been asked revealing their personal emails is classic doublespeak.

but by all means scottycommie, shill on...

Yeah, these kinds of things only happen in states controlled by gay-hating rich Republicans. Oops, hi Illinois:

One panel of federal judges called Illinois' new congressional map "a blatant political move to increase the number of Democratic congressional seats." Another panel acknowledged that the new General Assembly plan likely was "enacted in large part to give Democrats a partisan advantage."

Yet both courts signed off on the maps, which had been challenged by disenfranchised Republicans. The question, the judges said, was not whether Democrats who drew the maps acted out of naked self-interest, but whether they went too far. The courts had no yardstick by which to measure, so the Democrats got a pass. In the words of one judge: "'I know it when I see it' will not do."

It's wrong no matter which party does it. Which is why I support scenarios where districting is done by non partisan commissions and not directly by the legislature. California is a good example. Of course, this thread is about Indiana, not Illinois. If you want to have a discussion about the horrors of politics in Illinois I'd be happy to post in a thread about that.

In terms of national scale of, though, the gerrymandering done by the GOP in states like Michigan, Texas, Indiana, etc. has elevated the practice to a new level of horrible. partly because the GOP is now run nationwide by people who are far more extremist than the party leadership of 30 years ago, and party because of the use of big data to draw districts after the last two census. If you doubt the scale of republican gerrymandering I will once again note that the GOP enjoys a very solid majority delegation in the House of Representatives despite the fact that in each of the last two election cycles they've received a MINORITY of the popular vote.

The two states today with the strictest constitutional restrictions on their districting commissions are California and Washington. There are 5 others with what could be called "balanced" partisan commissions. IMO the California and Washington models would be the best examples nationally of doing the most good possible with todays Constitutional (Federal) and Judicial restrictions.

Republican redistricting tends to have a racist component, which is illegal. Political redistricting is not illegal (although like scotty I think it should be). You play the cards you're dealt.

i dont know anything about any of this but you can't logically go from denying it's being done to saying 'well but both sides do it!'. pick an argument and stick with it thx

So now conservative Christian leaders are using passive aggressive tactics to threaten the LGBT community.

"I think it’s important we have a sense of perspective about our priorities,” Sen. Cotton told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Wednesday. "In Iran, they hang you for the crime of being gay." - Tom Cotton

State legislatures have been targeting abortion clinics so blatantly that some states have one or zero left. There are like three in Texas.

This is all obviously unconstitutional but with the Supreme Court the way it is now.. Who fucking knows. Really gross.
