Where do you fall on the political compass?
https://www.politicalcompass.org/test
Fun test. Not that accurate, and some weird questions but it's fun to see where you fall. My computer did just say "Safari couldn't identify the server" of the website or some shit but I went anyways. Just a heads up for anyone who might be nervous about that kind of message for their computer's safety. Here's mine from a few weeks ago Last edited by Squish Squash : 06-10-2020 at 05:58 PM. |

there's some nice hot takes among those statements
Good parents sometimes have to spank their children. What’s good for the most successful corporations is always, ultimately, good for all of us. In a civilised society, one must always have people above to be obeyed and people below to be commanded. Abstract art that doesn’t represent anything shouldn’t be considered art at all. You cannot be moral without being religious. |

The only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders.

The test was written by a libertarian so it really only tells you what a libertarian sees you as
although since it's so popular and is the go-to litmus test for political views, most other people will assume it's accurate and so that's how they'll see you too |

It's not nuanced enough to test for views on lesser-evilism, which is an issue that rbg and Squish Squash intensely disagree on, so their results are the same

A lot of the questions on this test are similar to questions found on the F scale test (to identify fascistic views and sympathies).

Definitely not in the sense that this compass implies, i.e. in opposition to authoritarianism

I feel like the libertarian label on this test could just be replaced with "liberal," since liberalism is about personal freedom and rights but is compatible with both economic leftism, and economic conservatism.

So in the sense we think of libertarianism in America. My main problem with libertarianism is that I don't think you can truly be for freedom if you are giving massive corporations such freedom as if they are people. I've tried to explain this to one of my best friends, who is a libertarian himself. I at least know he legitimately believes this, rather than it being a mask for more authoritarian right tendencies, as he did vote for Bernie like me.

Well, then there's classical liberalism, which is similar to American libertarianism as far as I know. I'm also a complete moron, so I might be wrong here.
