not that this makes me a good person or anything but if i haven't talked to someone in the past year or so, under most circumstances i will not wish them happy birthday on their timeline for just this reason. and i dont do it for coworkers unless i talk to them about non-work shit. i resisted adding coworkers at all but once i did it i didnt want to exclude people ya know, if they initiated the friending

i stopped giving anyone happy birthdays about 2 years ago and my birthday wishes have dried up like a turd in the sun, people are so predictably capricious. I forgot to take my birthdate off facebook tho so i still got some.

there's actually a couple people who texted me & remembered & are close friends and their best wishes mean something i guess, mostly just because they're real true long term friendos you know? i guess getting older makes you more appreciative of those kind of friendships instead of the facefriends you make just walking around
