Despite all this utter shit you went (and go) through I'm glad to hear you found a job and that new/interim job isn't outright horrible. "happy new year" sounds fucking ridiculous, "good luck" is also horseshit, but you know, I wish you the best.

fair enough!

if i open the store, i put on the mm pandora station because they actually play half and half old/new.

either that or i put on the shoegaze station and surprisingly no one changes it for like, half the day if not longer.

i'm slowly coming out of my 2016 funk.

mine comes in waves; like, when i was younger i was sad inside but couldn't really explain "why", then it kind of went away for years, and now i usually get depressed when something sad is going on in my life (like, all of 2016) as opposed to "for no reason".

that probably makes no sense but it did as i typed it. hope you start feeling more awesome soon.

ha, fingers crossed (or something)
being happy about good news for someone is weird for me lately. don't know how to phrase it, it's becoming more important.
(I also cried watching Michelle Obama's final speech so you know...)

I should try this! I have a lot of empathy for people but need to work on getting truly excited for people.

This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, The Lonesome Crowded West (probably my favorite) and The Moon & Antarctica are still solid. Gave Good News for People Who Love Bad News a shot and wanted to like it but nah. Haven't listened to much of the last 2 albums besides what gets played in public places I guess. Back in the 2000s they were one of the bands I was collecting live recordings of...that was fun.

I saw them in 2005 or so and wasn't too impressed but yeah those two good albums are good albums.

been ages since I listened to them though.

Good News and the next one, We Were Dead etc. were not as good as those first albums BUT there's some really great stuff stowed away in there. I will never skip Ocean Breathes Salty when it comes on, for example. Ever.

Their last one was decent but not terribly memorable.
