when i hear this song i see freezing cold snow covered Montreal at night. it helps that the song starts "if the snow buries my neighborhood" (which at least at the time it was written is also my neighborhood). But this song always sounded very mtl to me regardless. And it's winter 1/3 of the year so if it sounds like mtl, it sounds like winter probably. Also our skin DOES get thicker from living out in the snow.

I still love this song so much...probably still my fav AF track. First record, first track. And they've yet to beat that. Sucks to be them.

It is one of their best for sure. Funnily enough, I always think of Funeral as a summer album, probably because when I first heard it, it was warm out.
