"They said we lost our heaviness, and there were no more singles on the album. First, I wanted to stick this idea up my ass, but then I thought: 'I'm gonna show those fuckers how easy it is to create a hit-single.' And so I rapped a hip hop part on that song, we shortened it and half an hour later, the hit-single was ready to roll on."

i've always wondered about that album title - were they too scared to call it white horse because it seems too obvious of a drug reference that there must be something behind it

I mean yeah, it was pretty obvious that the Deftones were really trying to capitalize off of the Limp Bizkit thing with that track... But it's pretty fucking lame that they sought out to do that in the first place. |

And I think the fact that the album was released before that song happened makes it pretty clear they didn't want it.
Do you ever take a step back and think to yourself "hey, there is a possibility I might be wrong about this" |

But, if you want to call them nu metal I shouldn't care.
Pet peeve. You disliking them validates my opinion though. |

White Poney is definitely pretty nu-metalish.
Around the Fur is unarguably a blueprint for the whole Nu-Metal craze. Those are the only 2 albums I've heard though, but I think they encapsulate the Nu-Metal sound pretty accurately. I haven't bothered with anything after that though, so I don't doubt that they matured with their sound or whatever. Even so, I love House in the change of flies. That's a great song. |

I think he's trying to lump a band that smart people like in with all the shitty nu metal he likes so he can justify liking it

It's stuff like that Spencer's comment that make me think he has to be a troll. There's just no way.
I do think he is right that their first two albums are pretty nu-metal, at least to my 23 yr old ears. Can't really speak on Adrenaline, but Around The Fur clearly towers above all the other shit while still working in that mould. |

I've given a few of their more recent albums a spin and they didn't really do anything for me. It seems like the magic was lost once the guitar player died. This is pretty killer though |

Anyone else remember this rap-rock bullshit?
So fucking awful. I remember seeing these guys opening up on a bill that consisted of Sum 41, Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory and Blink 182. LOL |
