I don't disagree; but it's a full band song and probably fits in with all the other stuff around it (synth, acoustic, etc). It sort of works as a second-to-last track on the album.

I'd leave Ogilala and "Shiny and Oh So Bright Volume 1: No Past No Future No Sun" alone. Ogilala is lovely and while Shiny isn't great I imagine it was a good and necessary experience for them.

Cyr would've been better with everything after Telegenix removed and about half of Cotillions thrown in randomly.

Good idea. Here my take. I tried to go with a different, more Adore-ish dynamic since, as some of you said, there is no good, classic opener.

What I'm getting from this thread is that I need to listen to Cotillions. 15 years of straight bullshit and I kind of stopped caring enough to listen to it.

Because it takes him 5 years to come up with enough shit to do so

Although tbh even in his prime, the songs went through years of live testing and tweaking, so maybe he's just too proud to refine his work now

I dunno, I reckon he bashed a lot of those songs out in a short amount of time. Probably like the "song a day" approach from If All Goes Wrong. I could imagine some of those acoustic songs may even have been written on the same day.
