Coldplay had some good songs on their first few albums and I mean this unironically. Their first LP is like if someone took Bullet Proof by Radiohead and made it into a whole album and its pretty nice. Their second LP has some really heartfelt/moving songs. Green Eyes still gets me. X&Y was only about 25% good songs though and it went downhill from there.

Yeah their first 2 albums had some worthy songs... It always kinda bothered me that they took what Radiohead did and neutered it for the masses though.

they're just a pop anthem band, but what's astoundingly good about some Coldplay stuff is the production/audio engineering/mixing/mastering.

speed of light (or whatever that song is called), fix you, talk - they all just sound really good.

that one's like two steps away from being an actual novelty album to me

with the early stuff, Parachutes is great and if you don't like the 2 or 3 albums after that, whatever, but i can't for the life of me see why someone would be that pissed off that "Clocks" was on the radio

I think there are some pretty good songs on Rush of Blood but Clocks is not one of them. The piano riff and melody are so uninspired. It's a real snoozer, total wallpaper music.

Yeah man, terrible choice for a lead single. I initially thought it was gonna bomb and to my dismay the masses couldn't get enough of it.
